For me, my favourite stage is B3 since it was the first one I saw live at the theatre. So whenever I listen to it, it just reminds me of that. Although I still seemed to find myself listening to A1 rather frequently.

I have only very recently gotten into AKB48.
So have only heard senbatsu songs and some Watarirouka Hashirita songs due to Mayuyu.
I'm meaning to download some stages but slow capped net is slow, probably Team B stages first since Mayuyu and Yukirin.
I hear B3 and B5 are both very good

Otherwise my favourite song is Yūhi o Miteiru ka, this song just makes me happy.
As always it's very hard to only name one song, because there are several that I really like.

And as for the thread filling up with images, I post 1 image for each of those big albums of magazines and stuff I link, so people know what's in it. Which I think is fair since those albums are generally pretty current.

I just mention it because a couple said last thread it was simply turning into an image dump without anyone talking,. Images are of course fine to post, perhaps just an irrelevant image without any text should maybe be avoided is all.

Nakaya Sayaka is apparently going to publish an autobiography now - 'Non-Senbatsu Idol'. She's never been ranked in the top 40 in senbatsu elections even after being a member since '07 but she's going to be the first from AKB to publish an autobiography. Could be potentially interesting I suppose.

So, I can't read Japanese.
And would love to know what the shit is going on in this image.
I can tell the purple section is Senbatsu election results, then underneath that I'm guessing singles participated in.
I'm interested in what the sections above the photos are for Yuko/Mayu/Yuki, maybe the white section at the bottom, or any other interesting things that are in there, don't really know.

Yeah I think you're right, it's quite likely to be about her struggles and such. But as for Nakaya Sayaka, she has done other things outside of AKB, she was a VA in Moshidora and some Playstation game I think and I'm pretty sure she's going to also feature in AKB's anime series as a VA. I guess other lesser know members still appear occasionally in plays at theatres and things like that, as well as AKB's TV shows. I suppose they're still kept busy, they just don't get anywhere near the same opportunities more popular members would.

Speaking of which, Yuko is going to be the lead in yet another drama. It's some kind of musical drama, doesn't sound appealing to me. But she's also got another role with Matsui Jurina in a 3 part drama special too. That one is about the problems school teachers of different eras have faced - or something like that.

Since you mention Matsui, I bought Matsui Rena's photobook today. It's certainly one of the longest and best photobooks that I own - I was quite impressed with it. I'd certainly recommend any fans of hers to buy it. The photos in it are really well done and there's more of them than most photobooks. It also comes with a cute double sided poster of her.

But since there's going to be 90 members at AKB's and 68 at SKE's I'm sure people would have been willing to give a fair amount to watch them.

Also found out that SDN48's Urano Kazumi is tentatively joining watarirouka. They have contracts with other agencies which require 7 members so they need a replacement. It's a bit of an odd choice though.

For me, muchaburi dodgeball and Boss burger episodes are the best. You can download them all from http://www.akbingo.org/ - which just links to the hello!online tracker, but it's got an easier tagging system and ways of sorting through AKBINGO episodes in my opinion.
Oh, episode 120304 is a good special they've done recently, where they give surprise visits to a couple of their fans, I thought it was pretty entertaining.

I'd recommend watching all AKBINGO episodes in chronological order since they carry some history. You can get a better feel about what the members are like and how they got that way. But you probably don't have the time, so I'd say 2009-2010 had a lot of good episodes. 2011 sucked IMO because the veteran members were too busy to appear and newbie members had to replace them. I also think SHUKAN AKB was a good show up until 2011 for similar reasons. I REALLY recommend the SHUKAN AKB DVD specials like the first sports tournament, guam special, swim tournament, uninhabited island survival, and dokkiri school. They might be hard to find in non ISO form though.

On a different note, I think it's really hard to dig into AKB for a newcomer if you don't have the time to invest into it. There are way too many shows and appearances to watch, past and present. Plus, almost none of it is subbed. And that's just TV; every week is a new story for these girls. It's really overwhelming if you're a person who feels the need to appreciate everything. I'm not being condescending or anything; there are many ways to experience the group and you can choose your own. I just think it's difficult to grasp the dynamics if you only watch random episodes and clips on youtube, or, if you follow everything starting from the present without looking into the past.

Yeah, pretty much this. I'd say it's a hard to appreciate it without watching their series from the very beginning. But after around 4 years of weekly shows I guess it's a little hard to catch up on them - but absolutely worth it in my opinion.
Also, you're right about 2011 AKBINGO, apart from a couple of the team 4 members on the show, there wasn't anybody on there who interested me to be honest and aside from the odd episode here and there it was mostly underwhelming. However, I still think they're worth watching if you have the time.

I do happen to have a bunch of subtitles for AKB 0じ 59ふん and AKB 1じ 59ふん and the first ~30 AKBINGO episodes if anyone wanted them since I think they can be a little hard to find outside of that one site which has some stupid minimum post requirement to download them.

I'd say just watch what you want to watch. Stick to subs if you like to understand what they're saying.

Over akbingo and shukan I'd recommend nemousu terebi. They go out and do stuff around Japan (plus America, Australia, France etc) instead of being stuck in a studio. Another short series that was called like nozoku is really interesting if you're trying to get to know some of the members. It's a bit more recent which is kind of a plus if you're just now getting into AKB.

If you enjoy their shows enough you'll continue watching more stuff, if not just watch what you like; there's no reason to force yourself.

I remember when I first started following AKB beyond like youtube I found a certain tracker and clicked through every page with AKB related search terms (it was possible back then) but I never watched half the stuff I downloaded.

Has anyone been watching the last couple of episodes of AKBINGO, with the karaoke tournament? Who's your favourite singer so far? or least favourite?

I was surprised at how good Sato Amina and Takeuchi were. I'm hoping for a Takeuchi victory.

IMHO AKB is actually less perverted than H!P, because while AKB does a lot of gravure almost all the girls that do it are 18+ or at least 15+. H!P, on the other hand, is somewhat less sexual but the girls are a lot younger and the loli appeal is a selling point. I think selling the sexiness of 18+ young women is less questionable than making a 13-year-old girl do a stripper-ish dance on the floor (Riho in Moonlight Night) or having S/mileage show off the bare legs of 13- to 17-year-old girls ("the idol group with the shortest skirts" as their introduction), with a bikini single coming up next. Personally I like both AKB and H!P, but H!P fans thinking they are somehow morally superior to AKB fans is ridiculous.
