Alice has 2 main hobbies: Puppetry, and practicing magic. She lives in the forest of magic, not the most social place ever. This is good and bad for her, as she can delve more into her hobbies without interruption. The problem with this is it also causes her to become more and more introverted. In the presence of company, she is unskilled in conversation, and thus does not get involved too much in the conversation. This causes her to be embarrassed and more wanting to be alone. In conversation, she keeps her cards close to her chest, so to speak, and hides the things about herself in order to avoid being laughed at. This is probably due to her belief that her hobbies aren't interesting or good to other people. This causes her to exhibit aloof and somewhat cold behavior. As she hides things about her, this attracts certain people who are attracted to mystery, wanting to discern what she is hiding. She doesn't trust many people, and will actively keep them away or attempt to dissuade them (usually by pretending to be a bitch). Once trust is gained with her, however, she will begin to open up, showing her true face. At this point, Alice considers the person precious, and while she may reflexively go back to the habit of keeping people away, she will never fault that person. It's very highly likely that she has a low self-esteem, and this may cause her to become slightly depressed and quite lonely at times. Should a friend not visit, she may become even more depressed as she starts to list bad things about herself that may have made her friend hate her, despite her friend not hating her at all.

In conclusion, she's a shy girl, and acts like a bitch to hide what she considers dorky interests and qualities. Gain trust, and you'll see her true, and wonderful side.

"Problems" is a severe way of putting it. Everyone's insecure to some extent. To be honest, I don't have a very good idea of Reimu's character. Marisa's the hardworking trinket-snatching jerk, all in all a fairly compelling character, especially in her best-friendship with a girl whose powers are entirely the result of ancestry and outstrip her own by a fair margin.

Uh, who else. I always liked Youmu's mix of stuffy professionalism and childlike innocence. Yuuka's charming in her supreme self-assuredness (tops the powerlevel chart in her own head, but more importantly in the heads of most everyone she meets) and her status as a total dick.
