Also it would be of dubious relevance since mythological evolution (in a rare instance of similarity to natural evolution) is rarely if ever a straight progression from weak, simple creatures to powerful, complex ones.

I really wish I could, but that's pretty much all I know. Long story made short, Di Yu is populated by fearsome demons that fill roughly the same niche as oni in Jigoku. They may or may not have horns, fangs, tails or other inhuman traits, but at least some versions of them do specifically have red hair.
That's it. Only read from sources translated to Swedish and so not very precise with the naming conventions, so don't even know what they are called.

Ah well, that's a little disappointing. I remember reading SOMETHING in a previous /jp/ thread about Meiling possibly being some manner of red-haired Chinese demon (and for some reason I remember someone mentioning them being good in soup?), I just haven't had a chance to look into any more myself.

Back to the original thread subject - We've got a good enough idea of what Oni are like, but Yuugi is above even THAT, and then there's her crazy-ass ability that goddamn nobody ever looks into at all.

And Meiling is pretty much a pile of unknown variables as well. How strong she is, how skilled she is, and what kind of capabilities she has as a result of her Qi control.

This shit is pretty much why I don't care for most VS threads.

Well, obviously Yuugi, Meiling is skilled in martial arts but nothing compared to most touhous, Yuugi is well, an oni.

Yeah. Much as I may love the girl, as soon as pretty much any swing from Yuugi lands, Meiling will end up as the next entry in the Chinese Space Program.
