I got my computer back from repairs this morning and the man hooked it up to a monitor to show me what he fixed and he browsed through everything. All my porn, all my loli, all my /jp/ pics, everything I have ever downloaded.

It was the single most horrific thing I have ever had happen to me. I stood there, motionless, unable to stop this madman going through my entire computer. It's like he was looking through my heart, through my mind, he could see every little thing I've been doing on that computer for years.
He's probably on here now, laughing at me, waiting for me to post about it.

Well, it was a case of the old Blue Screen of Death, so it could have been anything that was wrong with the thing. In the end I just bought a cheap new model and he transferred my old files over there, which is why he saw everything.

In case of a BSoD:
1. Go to http://www.ubuntu.com/ (on any PC)
2. Download Ubuntu.
3. Burn Ubuntu to DVD.
4. Insert Ubuntu disk into "broken" PC and boot it from the DVD.
5. Ubuntu will start, choose 'try', not 'install'.
6. Copy your files to a backup device. If you no longer have a Windows disk, torrent one and burn it.
7. Reboot using the Windows disk and re-install Windows.

It's that easy. There's no reason to bring your computer for repairs over something so trivial.
