Which shooter is /jp/ playing?

How are you progressing as of lately?

Dimahoo is all I do these days

G-Darius and Aero Fighters earlier today. Going to top the evening off with the Turbo Grafix 16 port of R-Type.

>> No.8263173

Lately I've been throwing around the idea of writing my own. Unfortunately I only know very rudimentary C and I have no art skills (though I did draw a lot of semi-decent pixel art as a teenager). Maybe I'll pick up Allegro or SDL or something. Or maybe I'll just forget about the idea because it's too much effort and I'm too depressed. That sounds easier.

Interests are good to keep going strong. I would love to make one as well but I have forgotten a good chunk of my programming skills over the years.

I really want to play G-Darius again, I haven't played it since I was a kid.

>> No.8263364

It's still a very fun game and shouldn't cost you too much these days.

>> No.8263448

So I have a few Ballast Points in the fridge and I am trying to decide what I should play tonight. I have heard some good things about Cotton 2 (from the other thread) and I am thinking about maybe Raiden IV and Strikers 1945 as well.

>> No.8263475

Exceed3rd, and making steady progress, albeit not too fast. Both music and voices are awesome.

>>8263344
I played the demo when I was a kid. I still remember the first time I absorbed that boss' laser into my own and one-shotted it. I'll have to get to it someday, but I prefer vertical to horizontal.

If you have yet to buy Satazius off Steam, you are a very bad person.

Yeah, someone mentioned that last week in another thread. Apparently though it comes with some pretty rough DRM though. I am planning on buying it anyway.

You're right, I just realized that for some strange reason the game comes loaded with SecuROM.
Hope it'll get removed like they did with many other Steam games.

But you do care for indie developers using Valve's platform to release their games at bargain prices, do you?
I mean, can you name another honest digital distribution platform that they should be using as a substitute? EA's Origin?

I enjoy Steam whenever it works (always running into problems) but for the most part I can't knock it too much.

Satazius isn't listing that it has DRM on the store page, you guys sure?

Started playing Espgaluda 2 Black Label yesterday. Thankfully it's a hell of a lot easier than the vanilla game, I don't think it will take too long to clear it with a good score.

Better yet, just release games as standalone programs on-disc or available as a downloadable installer, as we've been doing for the past thirty years.

You should be ashamed.

I hate NetHack on Windows. I don't know why the felt the need to change all the keybindings around. Are they that worried that Windows users won't "get" vi-style keybindings?

Not that anon (obviously), but I didn't like the 16:9 playing field. You're basically forced to use the Gunner ship because that's the only one that can hit enemies on the opposite side of the screen, otherwise they'll fly away before you can make it over to them. The bosses are also really easy.

But I last played it when it first came out, so I don't know what they've patched since then. I didn't think it was that bad though - it's pretty decent for a western shooter. The scoring system is pretty good too.

>> No.8266540

>>8266383
The 16:9 was pretty much my only complaint about it, I quite liked the game otherwise. I'm just totally not used to playing what is basically a sidescroller screen but with every enemy at the top.

In terms of hitting stuff though, I think the (problem) is it's supposed to be played co-op. Except it's offline-only co-op, and it doesn't include friends ;_;
