Even if it was good, what's the point in comparing something that exists and something that's a relict of the past? I love /jp/ the way it is now.

/a/ was good when there were three Rozen Maiden threads on the front page at all times. After 1M GET, it fell apart into shitstorming, everybody accusing everybody else of being a "newfag", and a heapload of nonsense like ronery threads, promotions, and /b/-style image combos. I don't know why people think that the split killed /a/, considering how her best days were already far behind her.

Oh, /a/ at night was always nice (or at the very least, tolerable), but it was not the magical internet paradise that some of you made it out to be. Especially during /a/'s final days, there was almost as much bullshit going on at night (ronery threads, promotions, other shit that doesn't belong in /a/) as there was during the day. I'd much rather browse the /a/ of early 2006 at 3:00PM then hang out on the /a/ of two months ago at 4:00AM.

/a/ was the best before the periods of series spamming. It all started with Rozen Maiden spam. Moved to Fate/stay spam, Haruhi, geass, LS, GL and on. Before /a/ was completely one or two series centric, it was a lot better.

Now we have jp with no absolute focus! It's awesome.

anime/manga alone isn't enough to make /a/ interesting. it lacks variety, since most anime/manga these days are crap and we've discussed old anime already ad infinitum in every other anime/manga forum on the internets. while i wouldn't mind a thread about monster per day, it's simply not enough to maintain the fast pace of old /a/. /a/ was interesting because it was NOT only anime/manga, but simply everything anime/manga related, including visual novels, touhou (seriously - did anyone ever discuss the actual game? - all they did was post pictures) and ronery. /jp/ has too much random crap about japan "hay guise, i want to lern japanese lol", "hay guise, i herd in japan they eat with sticks lol", "millions of chinese were killed during the rape of nanking", ...
