So winter's almost here and the cold is starting to take effect (for northern hemisphere anyways). As an upstanding otaku, I'm interested in buying a kotatsu someday; why not now? Any recommendations?

Importing one would be expensive.

The simplest thing would be to conjure forth the engineer from within you, and make one yourself. Take a low, spinny table, put on a blanket and then another piece of table. Voilà.

Because expect to pay many hundreds of dollars for a real, imported one.

Kotatsu dont warm you up.
Try a cock instead OP!
Nothing makes you warmer than having hot sticky semen run down your throat.

>> No.8197735

you can easily make a classic kotatsu attaching a warming pan under a table and filling it with embers...

As said above, you could make one yourself, it's not rocket science.

Get a traditional poncho.

So warm AND you can sit at your desktop.

I wanted a Futon once, but I just put a normal mattress on the floor instead. Improvise.

Not a bad idea. I got some friends with nothing better to do that could help. One thing I still can't figure out is how the table top doesn't slip. Is it just made of heavy wood/material or what?

Is there a less Japanese name for these out there other than "kotatsu"?

That is an option, but that might make storage more of an issue. Also would make removing the futon/blanket to wash it more difficult.

but kotatsu are suppose to have big poofy blankets, you'd have to use a comforter or something, and in that case, putting a table on top of it might be troublesome

Oh yeah I didn't think of that. You could use bolts, although if you didn't use a thick enough table top it would mean the table surface would not be completely flat.

Run Crysis on max quality using an Nvidia card and put your tower under the table.

Okay, I'll curled up into a ball under my table. I threw a blanket over it. And yet I'm still shivering hard enough to knock my teeth loose! What did I do wrong?

You need to start a car and funnel the warm exhaust gases under the blanket.
