If all of the fan art and music are irrelevant and playing the game is what really counts, as per your use of the term "secondary", then they really aren't getting "anything this good", are they?

Also, regarding "secondaries", say I were to watch and be a fan of a sport, and that I knew everything about it. If I didn't actually play it, would that make me a secondary fan? What if I were paralyzed?

I like playing Touhou but I don't really know the whole Gensokyo backstory because I've never read the mangas. I just enjoy the gameplay and general atmosphere of cuteness.

When I visit the Internet cafe in my hometown, I pop Ten Desires that I downloaded and stored in the main HDD and enjoy all the remarks from awestruck friends.

It's funny because over there, a lot of people are above-average at mainstream games, but nobody knows about Touhou, so I get this friend who's like "oh my God, look at that clusterfuck and how casually he's dodging it" while I'm still at Yuyuko. I can safely say it's way better showing Touhou to people who aren't weeaboos.
