Why do people consider IN the easiest Touhou game when you can beat PCB blindfolded with one hand?

>> No.8103287

I can't consider IN as the easiest Touhou game because of Eirin.

>> No.8103295

>>8103285
Individual spell card practise makes it easier to clear if you struggle with certain parts, also border team means even if you are completely terrible you can death bomb.

>> No.8103319

Because a lot of IN is gimmick cards that literally cannot kill you after you learn their gimmick.

>> No.8103348

They're both very close if you're only considering perfect runs. Touhou 8 extra is harder than touhou 7 phantasm imo. Keep in mind, at least in my experience, a lot of people that say touhou 8 is the easiest just played it on easy mode and abused the time-slow bomb feature.

>> No.8103368

PCB really is easy as pie. The borders are like a free life or bomb each, whichever helps you more at the moment, and you get a million of those.

EOSD is easy too, my kid brother beat it on his first try and complained how easy it was.

>> No.8103375

>>8103295

Does anybody really use the Spell Practice for practicing spells? I thought everybody only used it as a "collect all the spells like some kind of Pokemon" mode.

>> No.8103386

>>8103368
Well, easy mode was made for children so I'm not surprised. It's like you're judging a movie having only watched the trailer.

>> No.8103394

>>8103375
I had to use it to beat Mokou a week ago. 4 spellcards took me about 50-80 tries before I realized the "correct" way to beat them.

>> No.8103402

Because PCB is easy once you learn to redirect Youmu and stop bombing 20 times on ridiculous noncards like ghostknives/Merupo/fucking Alice openers while IN is easy without putting in that effort.

>> No.8103423

I think I can vouch for this as one who is new to shmups and from playing (mind you I have not beaten any of them yet) SA, SDM, IN. I found that I have gotten further in IN and much quicker that I did with the other two.

>> No.8103434

I can beat IN normal fairly easily and hard without a continue about half the time while PCB easy still forces me to use a continue because Youmu is a fuck.

>Because PCB is easy once you learn to redirect Youmu

the wat

IN seems much more structured and predictable than PCB.

Which means you're playing on an easy mode, which means nothing in a lunatic difficulty comparison. On top of that anybody can bomb spam, but how hard are they in comparison when you do a no bomb run?

This is what I would rather see discussed. It's mostly "I played easy mode and could bomb spam easier in IN therefore IN is easier"

>> No.8103482

>>8103470
>Which means you're playing on an easy mode
I play on normal
>On top of that anybody can bomb spam
I never said that

I am just saying as it the games have varying difficulties when played at the same level on all three different games.

...no, it doesn't. What the hell are you talking about?

I love how /jp/ thinks they can have opinions when they beat the game on anything below Lunatic.

I love how some faggots think they're allowed to speak when they probably didn't even gouge their eyes out and break their fingers before playing on lunatic while covered in scorpions.

Yes, to forge some kind of scoring route more efficient.

I'd like to clear all the last words but some of the requirements (clear Extra with characters, clear the game with 3 teams, capture every card in Normal using Marisa) are chores.

Why would you post that whiny bitch instead of godly Hazama?

>> No.8103598

>>8103501
That wasn't me, but again, to me it only makes sense to have no say in a difficulty comparison when you don't even play on a difficult level.

Some areas go up by 5x the difficulty, some aren't even much harder. This is why I dislike grand statements like "IN is much easier than PCB (because I 1cced it on normal)". It means nothing regarding difficulty comparisons on lunatic or extra modes. Even if IN was easier, someone who played normal would have no idea and is just making assumptions about lunatic mode.

>> No.8103630

because people only have a specific difficulty in mind this means they have no right to judge the whole game?

So when there's people saying Kirby Dreamland is piss easy, while many many people have no idea about the "extra mode".... who cares?

Extras are just extras. To me, beating a touhou game on Normal is more than enough. Normal (and sometimes Easy) lets you beat a touhou game and see the good ending. Other than that, there's only optional challenges. I have a Lunatic 1cc in a couple of the games, but that is optional. Optional, and nothing more. There should be no self-entitlement to that at all.

Where's that pic of that MarisaA one-liner in SA Extra....

>> No.8103637

>>8103630
>because people only have a specific difficulty in mind this means they have no right to judge the whole game?

Yes, because you're judging what you haven't even touched yet.

>> No.8103642

>>8103598
So assuming I understand what you are saying. That means the difficulty change is not consistent throughout each games. If one were to play IN and SA on normal and find that IN is easier but IN would be harder that SA on lunatic?

>> No.8103648

>>8103637
For me, the higher difficulties are just a bonus. Most the time, Hard/Lunatic is just "more bullets, faster bullets, higher score". Extra at least has more interesting content.
Most gamers are not interested at all. They see the ending, they are satisfied...

I am horrible at the games in general, but Youmu is harsh.

I have yet to beat PCB on easy without continuing
Considering it's my first Touhou, I'm getting better; I can make it to stage 6 without continuing
I blame my keyboard, my ps3 fight stick doesn't work with my laptop

>> No.8103726

New guy here, so far the only Touhou games I've played are 6, 7, and 8.

What should I play next? I heard that 9 was a 2 player and 10 was shitty because it changed something from the old games. Should I play 13?

>> No.8103735

play them all and judge for yourself. No one is more divided about touhou games than /jp/.

It's not like they are particularly long.

>> No.8103748

>>8103726

Just try them all, spinoff games included. Just so you know, 10 basically has a different bombing system than the other games, and bombs become ridiculously good. Even so, it's worth trying out at least, you might enjoy it. It's actually one of my favorite Touhou games.

11's is the same, though rather less forgiving.
