I don't think I've ever cried because of sadness. I would be too busy grimacing and feeling like shit.
I only cry tears of happiness, when something is so strangely beautiful or feels so right it makes me stop being cynical and cast off my feelings of disbelief and detachment. I think it happened at some point during Swan Song, and some other ones like Umineko.

Planetarian was my first VN, and I cried for the first time in years because of it. Looking back, that was the turning point in my life of anime and VNs.

Even looking at this for any extended period of time makes a few tears well up in my eyes. I was afraid to cry loudly, so I kept very quiet the whole time. I think my younger brother saw me crying back then; he must think I am an enormous faggot.

narcissu, planetarian and kana imouto all made me really cry like a bitch. g-senjou had it's moments but for some reason didn't make me tear up like those other three.

Jesus christ, the part where the mc gives up his vengeance and asks Flora to go far away with him isn't really tearworthy, but when Flora starts crying happy "Finally... finally you're really really looking at me... !" and the sudden realization that she did in fact know all about what mc was doing at night and she kept it all inside her with the only hope that her loving gestures would in the end win his love, that totally made me shed some tears.
Goddamnit, porn with plot games, goddamnit.

It just seemed so... real.
It was a jolt back to reality, reminding me that all great things come to an end, even if it's not the ending you knew it deserved.
