That wouldn't be very wise to make a whole new fighter. I'd rather have a new EFZ. Another extension is what soku needs. But it's hard to make a balanced game with the current game mechanics. That's why we couldn't have Mokou, and that's probably we'll have to wait forever for new content.

I disagree. I used to keep up a fair bit with the Japanese UNL tourney scene, and no matter what level of you look at it, it's really just a slow paced game that revolves around waiting for one person to fuck up so they can get punished. The floaty nature of the game combined with flying makes it very hard to force a fight unless you have unblockable aerials or can very consistently crush someone midair, which is a lot easier said than done because of said floaty nature on top of them being able to just guard break themselves, or whatever that mechanic was called

All I can say is that watching IaMP tournament matches tickled me in ways that UNL simply never could

IaMP tournaments consist of one guy spamming the same BnB corner combos while the other guy is trapped with no bombs. That really isn't very entertaining either.

I'll agree that SWR/Soku tournaments are pretty shitty to watch too since everyone is way too cautious, but who cares? If you're just playing with friends it's really entertaining. Tournies are never a reliable indicator of realistic gameplay.

What are you even talking about? You fuck up hard enough, you get put on the defensive, which means you're in the corner. That's just kind of how it works in fighters. And even in the corner, people are constantly playing an uneven trade game of rock paper scissors. Is he gunna try to jump out? Is he just going to block? Etc etc. And if the attacker fucks up, that gives the defender a chance to slip out. It's fast paced and there's constant mind games going on, even in the corner

>> No.7857139

>>7857125
>It's fast paced and there's constant mind games going on, even in the corner

This applies to most fighters, but not IaMP. If the guy knows his shit it's virtually impossible to get out of the corner once you get in there. You're pretty much stuck turtling until HE fucks up.

What matches are you referring to that don't involve a serious skill discrepancy? Note the plurality of that question. Or did you just give IaMP a try after playing Soku and get dominated? I know that's why most people think it's not "fun".

Well, yeah. That's why you're in the corner. You fucked up. You're on the defensive. Now you have to win a few rounds of yomi and claw your way back out. That's.. how it works. There's nothing wrong with this. It really isn't "virtually impossible" to get out of the corner, though. It's hard if you *keep* fucking up, no doubt, but if you predict your opponent's moves right then you can slip out without an issue. It's mind games, man. IaMP punishes you hard for fucking up. That's what makes it such a pleasure to watch. The match can really turn around in a hurry if the players make a mistake

Uhhh, no? Its a fighting game, after your knock down shit should go back to mostly even ground to try again.

If I wanted to play a game where I just have to memorize a single input on confirm, i'd play Stepmania. Instantly losing the game with no chance of recovery simply because I fucked up one move doesn't make for a good fighting game.
This is why Soku+ was such a massive flop, it catered too much to you faggots who want the game to be Guilty Gear/Blazblue with frame cancelling and infinite combos of shit.
