Alright. For your new collection, I suggest just having a main /jp/-related folder where you put various stupid otaku images, and then branch out into subfolders, eg. individual Touhou character folders. Tag if you want, but it's a hassle. I've got 28.000 images in 186 folders, but I know where to find every individual image because of the subfolders.

I'm waiting for Internet to sort it for me.

Like it did for my touhou music.

I have one 10gb folder of unsorted images. The only way I can find anything in it is to use a program that sorts pictures by their overall color.

So if I can remember what the general color of the picture was, I can usually find it.

I have like 20 gb of pictures, it would take forever to sort them.

Split every image-folder so that each folder contains ~300 Images. The next thing are waifu-coordinates. Remember every image of your waifu and the exact location. If you browse your imagefolders, create some mnemotechnics with the neighboring images of a waifu picture. Like, try to add the images imaginary to the waifu picture that they make some kind of sense.
Perfect sorting.

I have a main /jp/ folder and after that they branch (Yume Nikki, Vocaloid, Touhou, /jp/ meta, etc.)

The Touhou one has subfolders for each character, one for all the characters I don't have many images of (once a character gets enough images, she moves to her own folder), one for the comics, one for groups, one for pairs with a fighting and a hugging/kissing subfolder, one for those more wacky Touhou-related images, a crossover one, etc. And of course the obligatory NSFW one where I keep my favorites of favorites.

The main /jp/ folder starts getting crowded after a while, so I either start a second one or start sorting the first one out.

I don't know if it's the most convenient, but it works for me.

For my 4chan folder:
- 1 folder per character
- 1 folder per game
- 1 folder for multiple character images that don't fit the above.
- Comics
- Charts
- Crossovers
- GIFs
- Cosplay
- Toys

Pixiv folder has sub-folders for artists I like, and the rest goes in the root.
