mp3 is actually a very shitty codec. If you'd compare it to video encoding, it'd be pre-divx level. On the other hand, AAC (when using the right encoder) or Vorbis should be alright. Generally, you can just open the "mojibake'd" CUE file in Notepad++ or something like that and just change the cue file's encoding to SHIFT-JIS and it should fix that problem.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. What you probably mean is UTF-8 (or UTF-16 in the case of id3v2.3 tags).

Also, it's unlikely that 7zip is actually doing anything to your cuesheets. All it does is compress and uncompress the files; while it could theoretically mess up the file names, there's no reason for it to modify the content of the files in any way.

Ah if it didn't work before when using SHIFT-JIS, then it may have had some other obscure encoding. Usually you just have to fiddle with the encodings until you find the right one. It's a pain in the ass sometimes like that.

Hm, I tried it on a gb18030 file and it thought it was gb2312. You should probably also let it take the input file as an argument (in addition to the option to pipe it on STDIN). I do like how it shows the encoding name and confidence level, though.

Actually, now that I think about it, these scripts should just use iconv to do the actual decoding, since iconv supports every character encoding under the sun and is installed by default on pretty much every *nix.

I tend to find that J-Core takes a while to appear, for some reason. I think people eventually end up buying it and uploading it themselves instead of waiting for it to appear on share. I know Mob Squad Tokyo/Black Label releases take time to appear, but they are currently all up (with the exception of the recent event releases). Also the one Sharpnel track from the new album is one youtube, so I expect that uploaded soon by someone (I remember this happening with Cyclick before it was uploaded, but who knows).

tl;dr It'll turn up but it's going to take forever; possibly up to a year or more in my personal experiences. Still can't complain about free shit.

The problem is with the archivers, not the unarchivers. In theory, ZIP archives should all use UTF-8, but ZIP archivers pretty much all ignore this and store file names using the native encoding of whatever file system they're on (with no way for the unarchiver to know which encoding was used!). And Windows filesystems naturally don't use what everyone else uses (UTF-8) because that would make far too much sense. So if you make a .zip on Windows and unzip it on a Linux system (or vice-versa), you are quire likely to get screwed-up file names unless the unarchiver can manage to guess what encoding was used to create the archive.

I know you don't care, but I wouldn't call Cyberteam in Akihabara 2011 Dubstep, in any respect really. Even in Buzz Steps Get Base, the dubstep part is actually quite short and the rest of the track has a much too fast rhythm and prominent drums to be called Dubstep and the bassline isn't so deep apart from the middle bit.

As for the whole album, I think it's pretty standard DJ Sharpnel album, good if you're a fan of the genre and you might like it if you're a fan of Hardcore Electronic Music. Not as good as Cyclick in my opinion but still good in places.
