Do those of you who are shutins enjoy the rain? What about the sound of rain? I can't understand why but ever since I lost my job and stopped going out as much, I prefer my room to be as dark as possible and have rainymood running in the background. I'm not even depressed or anything, and I'm even on anti-depressants, but some people have told me this is unhealthy. I don't really get why it would be though, it feels so relaxing. Does anybody else do this and feel like it actually helps them get through your empty days?

Sunny days suck, cloudy days are nice, rainy days are good so long as I don't have to be in it. Thunderstorms are a plus

Too bad this is the Pacific Northwest where rain is mild drizzle and thunderstorms are non-existent. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are one of the few reasons I miss the south.

>> No.7678511

I feel that way too. Although I'm not THAT shut-in rain always makes me feel relaxed, rain almost justifies (I know, I know, in my mind only) me not wanting to go out and "have fun and live life to its fullest". Its such a pretty sound... will be interesting to hear anon opinions on this...

I was primarily referring to the "keeping my room as dark as possible" part, which to me helps create the illusion that it's actually raining, Sunlight is distracting to me and makes me feel anxious sometimes even.

>> No.7678532

besides otaku I'm a relatively poor guy with a pc that barely turns on, and my roof is made of zinc. The noise rain makes in a tropical country such as mine varies from relaxing tapping to deafening static-like noises, like if someone was repeatedly pounding a door to open it. ... So I guess I have a mixed opinion on being shut in during rainy days.

>> No.7678540

It's always raining here. So much that the people outside never bother to use umbrellas.

I keep the curtains shut and the lights off. Peaceful and I don't have to pay for that electricity.

>and I'm even on anti-depressants

That's your problem. Anti-depressants are legal drugs that works for a limited period of time. After then, it stops working and it becomes the worse of your nightmares, because it does nothing to you, you want to leave it, but you can't because it would have the opposite effect on you.

i love the rain, it's one of the reasons i moved to seattle. it's a soothing sound which helps me sleep and keeps the allergens at bay. i have fond memories of rainy days growing up because they were the only time i didn't have people bugging me to go outside.

Hello rain otaku! I'm a windy otaku. I love hight-wind weather. The threes are dancing, you can put rollerskaters on, stretch your arms out and drive around without moving yourself! Or fly a kite!

We get about 8 inches per year of rain so when it does rain it feels special. All the better if it rains when it's not summer. A few days ago it rained and all the water was gone within an hour. It was so disappointing.

>> No.7678822

I know that feel, OP. The sound of the rain when I'm somewhere dry is one of my favorite things in life. It just makes the world feel less shitty somehow.

I don't like piddly rain. Cats and dogs or get the fuck out.

When it does pour down though, it's the best thing ever. I go running around outside, getting absolutely drenched. And I love it.

This. I love rain when the streets are pouring over from it. Drizzles or all that shit doesn't do anything for me.

>> No.7679038

I like light rain when I need to go out as it makes the streets less crowded. Bright sunny days make me just want to hide in my room all day.

I don't really mind if it's sunny or rainy. But I live in colder climate so "lack of sun" is more normal for me than actually having sun. So "unusual thing" for me is when it's sunny. But still I feel better when sky is white.

I love the smell of the first few minutes of rain on the sidewalks so much. It's such a wonderful smell, and it's nothing like any other smell.

So good.

>> No.7679438

I fucking love the rain and thunder. Walking through a thunderstorm gives you a decent lightshow as well. People say that those who like rain are weird, sadistic people. That's kinda true for me and I would suggest enjoying your rain while spending some time out in the sun with your friends.
