Not really. Mythologically, oni haven't invented anything other than the kanabo, depending where you draw the line between invention and design. Their culture otherwise mirrors the visible parts of human culture at the time. Even the classic oni dress of tigerskin loincloth is derived from human culture - the "demon gate" of Japanese cosmology is supposed to be to the Northeast, the "cow-tiger" direction.

Balls I say. You just pulled that out of your ass.

The book specifically mentions Reimu doing the rules with the aid of ''another youkai'', no sage youkai or any of that shit, the reason being her having done an agreement with the leader of the vampires (not Remilia).

The reason it can't be Yukari is that it would counter the fact that PCB was the first time that Reimu met Yukari.

Yuugi seems quite happy with the arrangement and implied that most of them are. There seems to be nothing *stopping* the oni from returning to the surface, hence why Aya and Nitori were shitting bricks at the thought of it, and Yuugi's chat with Suika indicates that 'sages' were responsible for enabling them to move to the underground, which they like more than they did the mountain.

There's no mention of this anywhere. Also Yukari isn't behind every single little tidbit that happens in Gensokyo, just so you know. I actually thought it was her at first but later I realized the paradox it would make.

And, it's the same contract, not a different one, look here:

What's not to be happy about? They got a neat cave without any unhealthy legendary hero infestation, something that resembles a country and common nation for a change, plenty of drinking and the only outsiders who ever come down bring a good fight.

Yuugi explicitly says that 'sages' are responsible for the oni's emigration. Certainly doesn't specify Yukari is responsible, and I think that's taking too much liberty with her words, but Yukari is frequently described as a 'sage'.

No, your mixing up some shit.

The devils contract(!) that includes rules as the vampires are only to feed on humans who died of suicide etc in the outside world, is NOT the story about the spell card rules.

The spell card rules exist because you-know-who proposed it and the influental youkai agreed to using such rules.

The devils contract exists because you-know-who beat the shit out of the vampires.

"They went on a rampage when they first appeared in Gensokyo, lost against powerful youkai, and a settlement was reached as they finally made a contract (*2).

The details of this contract are that the youkai will offer them humans from which to feed (*3); in return, the vampires will not attack humans living in Gensokyo.

2: A devil's contract is absolute, thus one can never betray it.
3: It's said they are outside humans whose deaths are of no consequence (suicides, etc.)"

You're quoting the wrong person, I was talking about the spellcard rules, not the onis' emigration.

>>7248222
No, that's a different contract that was made by Reimu right before she made the draft. Look I'll show you a screen of it where it says the beating up of the vampire is related to the creation of the spellcard rules.

Even if it doesn't show the step-by-step crafting of the rules, it does prove my point that the events are related, and that Yukari couldn't have been included.

http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Perfect_Memento:_Draft_of_Spell_Card_Rules

It suggests that a youkai was proposing the rules to Reimu, obviously the ''suggests'' is most likely an an actual affirmation. Since it's mentioned on a different article than the vampire one, the vampire leader isn't out of the question (he's also a youkai), but as said before, it couldn't have been Yukari due to a paradox.

>> No.7248326

>>7248259

Yes, I read that. But have you read the Vampire article?

They are two different agreements.

First one:
SDM incident. Remilia. Spell card rules who were suggested by someone, probably Yukari by gapping that scrap of paper into Reimu's lap. Or some other influental youkai.
The agreement is made so youkai can fight without shit happening. Everybody agrees.

Second one:
Vampires first come to Gensokyo. They kill people. A powerful YOUKAI beats them. A devils contract is established and YOUKAI agree to feed the newcomers with blood from outside people.Guess who the only one to be able to pull that of is.

>> No.7248353

>>7248326
I never denied the fact that there wasn't more than one contract, hell I even said it in my previous post that they were different ones.

Now, you're referring to a different contract, there are 3 of them, the latter two could be the same if the ''rules set by Reimu'' were to morph into the spellcard draft as her article suggests.

>She was eventually able to disperse this rebellion by defeating the powerful vampire and establishing a contract of behavior prohibiting various actions.

I'm referring that THIS contract is related to the spellcard rules, there may have been a confusion between us since both contracts are related to ''beat the shit out of vampires then settling a peace agreement''.

This is the reason we had an argument.
Reimu never made an agreement with some "leader" of vampires. There isn't even a leader.

The contract you were thinking of was the one with the powerful youkai and the resulting devils contract.
You got mixed up.

Also, the one in Reimu's PMiSS refers to the SDM incident. There are only two agreements including the vampires. One which "voluntary" and in agreement with all influental youkai and one which is rather forced and only with the vampire race.

>> No.7248436

>>7248396
Of course she did make an agreement, I called him the leader of the vampires because he was the one who ''amassed a great number of subordinates''. How can you deny it?

>It was into this situation that a powerful youkai from outside, a vampire, appeared, and quickly amassed a great number of subordinates.
>She was eventually able to disperse this rebellion by defeating the powerful vampire and establishing a contract of behavior prohibiting various actions.

It's right bloody there. It's not the SDM incident because this happened BEFORE the spellcard rules were made.

>The shrine maiden, who was also tiring of a peaceful daily life with no out-of-the-ordinary occurrences, agreed to the youkai point of view that some battles were necessary.
>The result of this were the spell card rules, which allowed duelists to (seemingly) stake their lives in individual combat (*4).

The SDM was the first incident to use the spellcard system, there's no way it could have been this agreement since it ''would later become the spellcard draft'' and there couldn't have been a spellcard duel without the draft.

Then again, that same page contradicts itself so I can't base myself properly and I can't counter you properly either. Either that or the next sentence refers to the after-incident.
