Played Reimu first and yeah, that's rather broken, made me get too lax.

I kept accidentally running into bullets with Marisa while dashing back and forth not used to the movement speed. I like to pretend that Marisa has gone AA modo and that the focus attack is some mini-hakkero flak fire.

Sanae, I can't say anything was interesting there.

I like Youmu's little trailing ghost shooter whatever things, her focus is quite wrecking but its rather not easy to get close enough to a boss to do anything with it (least with my low skill level).

This death trance psycho mode is pretty cool. Is the BGM that comes over during that some manipulation of what's playing at the time or is it always the same thing?

Is it just me, or do the portraits in this game make everyone look extremely thin?

Maybe Fairy Wars tainted my vision with delicious plump fairies.

Just finished playing a bit with every girl, and I believe I loved what I saw. Especially Youmu, I haven't ever had that much fun playing Touhou before, I guess that even though I am pretty horrible, getting up close and slashing the fuck out of everything feels pretty damn good. I don't see why people seem to be disliking her so much. Also, holy shit Youmu you're tiny. Thanks for making her even sexier, ZUN.

By the way, things I liked:
- Reimu has her homing amulets unfocused but switches to needles while focused
- Marisa's magic missiles are back
- How it looks like every boss has their own ghost mode theme as well
- Yuyuko and Kogasa out of fucking nowhere
- Youmu as a whole
- Jiangshi girl's whole gimmick of absorbing spirits
- ?-eared girl's gimmick of reflecting bullets in a certain space

Things I disliked:
- Sanae's shot, it just seemed way too bland or unintuitive, I think
- The difficulty, it seems a bit low - either that or I've become good after not playing for months
- The spirits often confuse me, looking like shots or enemies
- Having to move my index finger from X to C IS going to fuck me up eventually, I just know it

Overall, I believe it gets an A, just needs some polishing here and there and it's going to be amazing. I hope we get at least as many spell cards as IN had to make this game's Spell Practice be actually interesting, by the way. Only four shot types is not really that aggravating for me; and the music felt nice, although it was nothing too special.

observations about scoring and system i've made:

The new game mechanics for Ten Desires features divine spirits. These divine spirits are released when enemies fairies and other enemies are killed, bosses are damaged, and at certain scripted events. There appear to be four different types, grey spirits provide no other bonus than simply filling up your Orin meter. The blue add 10 to your score value (which is how many points you get for collecting a score item at the top of the screen), Green spirits add 1/10 of a bomb to your bombs, and purple add 1/10 of a life. The Orin meter consists of zero to three flames that are built up by collecting divine spirits. You begin the game with one flame, and you can collect up to a max stock of three of them. When the character would normally die, and there is at least one flame remaining, the character goes into her trance state. While in trance state your character get's an upgraded shot type and can effectively ignore bullets it seems. While in trance state the divine spirits take on a new shape that not only makes them much easier to see, it also makes them worth more. Blue spirits get x10 effectiveness, while purple and green get x2 effectiveness.
there appears to be a bug where at some point during the game, a characters bomb cannot be activated and dialog cannot be skipped. Once this occurs on one character (possibly sanae being the first to trigger this) the rest of the characters have the same issue. This can be solved by exiting the game and reopening it.
Graze appears to add to score value as well. every 10 graze is 10 points to score value.

The replay bug you mentioned has happened before anyway. Stage 4 of MoF was sometimes bugged like that, if I remember correctly.

the boss only shoots out those point-boosting items when you hit them, and they release more when you're up-close, so you can sit back with youmu, then get right up to them and unleash a charge for a stack of items then hold back again.
I can see this scoring system being incredibly interesting.

The inability to death bomb while you have any trance power is pissing me off. I can't bomb my way out of death and I can't trance without 3 spirits (like I'd be able to hit C in time anyway) so if I die, I die. I pray this fixed in the full verson, because as is, it's stupid. There's no reason to not be able to deathbomb.

This game feels so damn rushed, and it probably was.
I really hope ZUN revamps the demo content for the full version, because as is, it's just not good.

I wish I wasn't so shitty at Touhou so I could enjoy this game a bit more. But I like this one, it's not as annoyingly impossible and fucking frustrating as the other ones. The art, as always, makes me want to cry but the music is great (as always).
