So, how many people are living right now in japan?
Where?
and where are you from?
Why?

Would you like to visit? to live there?

Show yer answers!

>> No.7205397

I would like to visit, but I'm poor as fuck.

No reason to move back / enjoy the challenge of not always understanding everything. Let's me see what the world maybe feels like for dumb people.

For a pair of years...

>> No.7206851

I would like to visit, have the money to visit, and was planning to visit this summer or autumn. I'm thinking I might wait until next year due to the earthquake. I don't want to visit a country in shambles...

>> No.7206862

I would love to live there if I could somehow have the same living standard with the same amount of work as where I come from (one of the best places in the world in that regard). Being employed like any other Japanese and being expected to follow their work morale seems horrible.

Oz-jin here.

Studying bachelor international studies, majoring in Japanese and Asian Studies.

Will have a mandatory semester abroad in about 3 years time (part timer) and that will be in Japan...

...if they give me a student visa as I will be 40 by then. Japan has a much narrower definition of the word "student" than us and they don't do the "mature age student" thing.

Otherwise I will have the retardness of having to go to a shitty country like USA just to study Japanese...

I also work full time at my Uni, so hopefully the power of the "meeshi" will get me through.

Pic related.

There's no way you'd ever be expected to work like they do. They would never think you capable.
Plus, you'd never be able to get a job here doing something like you could where you are.

Exactly - I have a background in as a radio/avionics tech. In Japan I will be just another "english coversational teacher fodder".

That's why my degree is centred around Japanese and Asian studies, it's the only thing that will be useful.

Well, studying education/english would be even better but I wouldn't keep my sanity in that.

Around 127 million.

I have a friend in a similar career path. Most foreigners I've seen/read/heard of do similar things? Never heard of a foreigner for example, studying engineering or art over there.

I'm aiming for an engineering program through MEXT, not much competition in my small country anyways full of sub-standardly educated youths and people who totally lack ambition.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing you're French.

And yes, working a cubicle job in Japan is tortuous.

>> No.7207126

I used to live there. I was a journalist. I moved home about a year ago, though.

It was nice, but expensive to live. My job didn't help, since it's not a high paying thing.

I have been to Osaka a few times, and checked Osaka rents online and such, and have found nearly everything is much cheaper than here in Australia

I guess it always comes down to expenses vs income though. Would it be better to be outside of Tokyo?

Might be hard for a reporter, but it would be very easy for an "english conversational teacher fodder".

Nah, Norwegian. We got our nanny state constantly watching our asses and making sure we don't work too much, and some of the world's highest average purchasing power.

Nice place to take it easy, but I envy people who have less than an hour trip to get to Akiba.

The right answer is Panama. Very nice country for a foreigner, pretty shitty for a local. I think I'd prefer to live in ravaged Japan rather than here... not to say I do love some things from here such as how cheap things are compared to the US and Japan itself.

Having a short trip to the akiba doesn't help much when having such interests are stigmatized. Although, the steadily rising stereotype of the salaryman with otaku interests helps a little if you don't mind being forever alone.

Foreigners have sexy accents and sex appeal. Have you ever seen how easily Brits, Australians, etc. get US women? You don't have to be forever alone if you've got that USA accent.

>> No.7207266

Once I finish my baking apprenticeship in a couple of years I wouldn't mind learning Japanese and working over there for a while. Preferably in a smaller or town though, I'm not particularly fond of big cities. Then again, pretty much anywhere is better than here in this shitty little Australian town.

>> No.7207310

Does it matter that your interests are stigmatised in a city like Tokyo?

>> No.7208733

I have to finish my bachelor degree before I go there, hopefully forever. Call me a weeaboo, I don't give a shit.
