There is no way a shop would get it at those prices because usually their supplier is either the manufacturer itself or the representative.

Also there is the timing, when a shop gets something they set the price and dont keep lowering, even if they brought then from AmiAmi would they waited until the "warehouse cleaning" sales and then make absolutely no profit?

The vn02 is a known bootleg, this is not the same as a Max Factory 1/6 Kasumi were $55 could be somewhat right considering it was released in 2006 before the exchange rates became the "bend over" they are now.

Can it be legit? maybe but all signs point to no.

It's the sculpture and dynamic pose. Yuka's hair is more like typical somewhat blob-like tendril design, hanging down limply, Suika's got flowing hair waving around with lots of strands carved in. Yuka could have been better if she was doing a cool pose or had a better face (or no giraffe neck). It's when Griffon decides "ok, she'll just be standing there and.. that's about it, actually" that they aren't so good.

The arms detach and the open jacket is extra jacket that comes in the bottom of the box, the skirt is a single and you "peel it off" as there is no connection areas, I was surprised it they did not make the usual "detaches at the middle to remove the skirt" but the jacket does a good job to hide the skirt lack of "connection".

A bit annoying because those papers in her hand in the first picture? actual paper (with a layer of plastic) so you should not handle it with sweating hands (too damn hot today).

Well only thing I find odd is her eyes, the box artwork shows her with green eyes but she comes with blue eyes, Xecty actually have brown eyes so it does not phase me as much as perhaps it should.

I know, I have read it and its not as bad as something is always lost going from 2d to 3d, also the base is pretty nice with her name written on it and also the series name, its a nice touch.

Besides Orchid Seed is pretty much the only doing H manga series figures, also its not that nearly as screwed up as Ziska were instead of making her hair pink, they made her hair purple, now there is a fuck up.

Kyoko at least have her colors right, sure the pose is not exactly the same as the volume cover and there are some slight differences here and there but same with Ziska, the only thing I kinda wish they put was her shoes as we can see in the cover and the papers would have better been made of a PVC mold instead of being paper.

I know I sound defensive but from what I seen she is pretty much what we get when a figurine is based on a cover, there almost always differences on pose, look at GSC Moka as a example.

All I do to retouch is turn up the temperature, modify the contrast & darkness, and sharpen.

I get called out for sharpening too much or making things too dark, but whatever, I like the effect it gives.

I got the Suika Griffon figure today, she looks lovely.

I love Dead Master, I don't give a fuck. I have all figures of her released so far. I'm still debating Animation version though, I actually have some sort of phobia for skulls and that one is the only figure of her without the option to display without the skull. I'll probably skip her.

On another note, why do people hate Griffon? Is it just their Touhou line that isn't so good? I have an old QB figure from them (Melona) and I love her, she's perfect.
I'm very much looking forward to their Yukari.. she's so beautiful. In my experience figures always look better in real life than in pictures.

No, people hate Griffon with good reason, their quality control is non-existing, either lucked out in the one you got or you are far more accepting that I am.

At least with BRS you can say people "hate it" as a matter of taste, Gritton issue is they are well overpriced considering their quality.

Touhou is just their newest milking cow, they been milking Ikkitosen by far longer along with Queen's Blade.

I bought that one and actually like it a lot. Paint job isn't the best (at least a few, mine included, have paint smears from the hair) but I just really love the rubbery shirt. It makes the figure for me. I wish it had a different base though because it looks really, really cheap.

There are a few resin kits you can get but you'll have to find someone to paint it or do it yourself. None of the ones I've seen really capture her in a battle stance though. I might have to settle for making that in zbrush sometime. Sadly Highschool of the Dead has never been super popular to get a bunch of figures or kits...

It's sad that there will never be an Oswald fig to go with the Gwendolyn one.

I've done this exact same sort of photo-taking for product catalogues before, and I can tell you that how the photo is taken really can make all the difference. You can literally change a products colour completely in a photo by simply moving a light or two, it takes trial-and-error as well as experience to take a photo of a product that properly and accurately shows how it really looks to the human eye. An expert photographer would have it down in less than three shots, a rookie might need more than ten. And even then, many photos will require Photoshop colour-correction and touching up regardless.

Product photography is serious business.

With that said, that Swimsuit Xecty does not look that bad ... the "darker" is likely caused by camera settings and lighting as it looks to me its a indoor photo without using flash and just using artificial light, they tend to be darker but the official photo seems too bright, I suppose her colors will be somewhat like this.

I'm really pleased with it. While some may disagree with me on this, I like the colors much more than on the Alter version, they're much warmer. I'm also a fan of how Kotobukiya does the clothes.

Customization options are nice, I read that you could switch between the white and black ribbons, but what I didn't notice is that it's black ribbons on long hair or white ribbons on twintails (pictured). While the long, flowing hair is most appealing to my tastes, twintails are awesome too and nice for variation. The slightly more childish and down to earth look also fits well with the significance of the white ribbons. Also, the skirt is cast-off, which is new to me.

Only complaint is that the usual line between the bangs and back of the hair is a little more visible than average, because that's also where the switchable back of the hair part goes off. Personally I think it's worth it.
