/jp/ why dont people have there own websites anymore with music in the background and gifs everywhere?

>> No.7138488

>> No.7138490

Because Geocities doesn't exist anymore and it's easier to have a profile page on Facebook than to learn rudimentary code in order to accomplish the same thing with a private website.

Also, Web 2.0.

Was geocities free back then, or did you have to pay for them? I would say having your own web site is much more fun than facebook or whatever. plus it made the internet much more interesting. back then it was fun to explore the internet, now its boring. Somebody show make something like geocities again and it could start something.

It was free but you had to pay to get more bandwidth. I remember pretty much any time I wanted to go to a geocities site the site had hit its monthly limit.

>> No.7138526

There were plenty of other free webhosts other than geocities. And I'm sure there still are.

People just don't grow up with their own websites anymore I guess. Why would you make a shitty one when you can have the standard facebook/myspace or blog page.

"Only like, 3 hours man."

>> No.7138689

Is there a place where you can download midi files?

>> No.7138697

>>7138689
Yes, see:

In computer programming, a file descriptor is an abstract indicator for accessing a file. The term is generally used in POSIX operating systems. In Microsoft Windows terminology and in the context of the C standard I/O library, "file handle" is preferred, though the latter case is technically a different object (see below).

In POSIX, a file descriptor is an integer, specifically of the C type int. There are 3 standard POSIX file descriptors which presumably every process (save perhaps a daemon) should expect to have:
Integer value Name
0 Standard Input (stdin)
1 Standard Output (stdout)
2 Standard Error (stderr)

Generally, a file descriptor is an index for an entry in a kernel-resident data structure containing the details of all open files. In POSIX this data structure is called a file descriptor table, and each process has its own file descriptor table. The user application passes the abstract key to the kernel through a system call, and the kernel will access the file on behalf of the application, based on the key. The application itself cannot read or write the file descriptor table directly.

You should have just figured out a way around it.

I remember going to my cousin's house back when I was in elementary school. My aunt and uncle used some parental control program for Windows 95 that autobooted, and you needed the "adult password" to exit out of. I showed my cousin how to defeat it by rebooting the computer in safe mood, then opening the settings and using a "password hint" to figure out the password (which was something like "mother's maiden name", which of course my cousin knew). Then we managed to login to their dialup internet connection, which of course used the same password.

I would've just gone outside and played with the other kids, but they would always ridicule me for the weird clothes my mother made me wear and how fat I was due to being dependent on my mom's unhealthy cooking ;_;
