Yeah I kinda agree with this. I honestly believe Mokou is one of the hardest extras of the series but because you can practice her spells over and over she seems easier. ZUN should implement a way to unlock them for practice that isn't only "seeing" the spell (maybe capture them once or clearing the game/extra (1cc) before you unlock them), but from his blogs wording that probably won't happen.

I always thought that Ikuu was hardest 6 stage boss because her shoots on normal are practically the same than in lunatic. I only play on normal though

the only cards I've had to use spell practice for was fujiyama volcano, hollow giant, and possessed by phoenix, the others really don't require any practice after watching one replay and the stage is a joke (if you are using border team).

I still think spellcard practice is silly, let's face it most of the playing time for touhou games are during practice mode, so adding spellcard practice cuts out the amount of time needed to clear a game by probably more than half, which just takes all the fun out for me.

The paradox people will have to accept is that by making Easy mode easier, ZUN is fulfilling his objective of getting more people to actually play the games. The fact is, apparently even Easy Mode is too hard for many normal people and all the easy mode entry just makes them give up. If you want to feel elite and all then you can just not play Spell Practice. Some of the most common responses on awesome Lunatic runs on YouTube is "wow crazy! I'll never get that good I should just give up now LOL XD"

The fact is, having more diverse options in difficulty and practice for easy things allows more people to actually play the games, which is exactly what ZUN wants. Many "secondary fans" are in fact quite interested in playing Touhou but simply don't have the skills in the beginning and get discouraged by all the easy-mode mocking-especially if they pride themselves as hardcore gamers who normally play on Hard mode in most other games of other genres. Fact is, being a lv 9999 grinder or a superskilled platformer doesn't necessarily translate to Touhou ability. Being too embarrassed about being unable to complete a mode labeled "Easy", many simply give up. The objective is that they don't give up, actually feel accomplishment in beating the game on the mode they can, and become more interested and confident so they can keep playing and apply their dedication to getting better at playing Touhou.

Yeah I heard this before. I play the game well, I've done all the extras and 1cc'd th06 7 and 8 on hard as well (rest on normal), but I have problems with the weirdest things. I always really disliked Keine's cards, the fact that her bullets changes if you are focusing or not always annoys me. I find Kogasa in UFO and Sanae in SA much easier to beat, since you don't actually have to remember how to beat the cards, you can just dodge stuff. This is also the reason why I find EoSD really easy to clear, because it depends more on dodging and less in specific card technique. The easiest extra midboss has to be Kanako though, there is no debate there.
