some suggestions: try to block once in a while on wakeup, I could do so much damage to that point. Also don't overuse bullets!! I know patchy can be tempting but you have to be carefully to not stand there with zero spirit. And the last point, try to pull of some higher damage combos.
Besides that I see some potentional in you, my yukari has really some trouble with your patchy.

ggs idler, I get too sweaty fighting you. It is a shame that our delay was so high but it was still fun. The only top tier you haven't played today was remilia, you don't like her? And your cirno is excellent + she is one of my personal hate matchups(icecar, 5c, etc.), so I have to play you some more, to level myself up.
btw are you in the irc channel? I ask because you are good, too good for just a /jp player.

Whoa man, where does this mentality come from, really? IRC isn't a place where untouchable guys lurk waiting to rape you when you host. The ratio of good to bad players is the same as it would be anywhere else, it's just that being in an IRC room makes it that much easier to find games.

GGs. I have quite an odd feeling after those games, I lost with some of my stronger characters but snatched a rather easy victory with Okuu who I've practically never used.

>The only top tier you haven't played today was remilia, you don't like her?
I hate how she plays, she's holding the spot as my second most hated character to play when using random, right after Suwako.

>And your cirno is excellent + she is one of my personal hate matchups(icecar, 5c, etc.)
It takes some time to get used to fighting Cirno, and it helps that very few people play her so many opponents don't know what to do when facing her.

>btw are you in the irc channel? I ask because you are good, too good for just a /jp player.
Never been there. Besides one friend I used to play against about a year ago, I've only ever played with /jp/.

GGs, P1. Random usually means that you're out of ideas with your main, so I guess we'll call it. You still have some way to go in learning when to respect press, and when to force your way out/escape. Try focusing on escaping rather than punishing. Poking is no easy skill, so yukkuri on that. You also have to improve on your preassure; look into melee staggers, and abuse Reimu's range just as I'd abuse Komachi's. Also, the delay was on 8+, so our connection wasn't good.

GGs. I'd reccomend not air teching in soku, since you actually become invulnerable when you don't air tech, unlike other games. Teching usually means you get hit again or put in an aerial guard crush situation - though I don't practice enough to actually do the latter.

Air-teching while guarding is safe as long as you're some distance off the ground. The attacker has to be psychic or just damn lucky in order to create a somewhat inescapable air press. But usually it's a good idea to only air-tech if you've got the orbs to do some guarding, and you actually know how to guard. Mashing tech and attack is a scrub tactic, and will only work in the cases your opponent isn't prepared for punishing the tech, i.e. has frame disadvantage, or makes a mistake. In certain situations (CH and monsoon) the juggle meeter will sustain for a short while even as you gain tech ability. Rule of thumb is to air-tech with caution, just like in any other gamble situation, e.g. poking, reversing, high-jumping, etc.

I'm still learning. Yuyuko is quite a slow character and I usually bombard the enemy from a corner, but that doesn't work against a good player like you. I kinda did the same with Suika to, but I didn't play her for a while so I had no clue what to do

>> No.6889221

>>6889153
That's all correct information, but unlike high jumps, reversals, or border escapes where if you choose not to do so you'll be stuck in blockstun for longer and might get guard crushed, if you choose not to tech it's not that bad, especially at the level of >>6889025 where he would air tech when his back was against the wall.
Knowing when to air tech is something you learn as you get better, but it's best to start with not teching and learn when to tech, rather than start with teching and learn when not to tech.

It's mostly true. The people playing other fighters were playing Street Fighter II while most people playing Hisoutensoku were playing Perfect Cherry Blossom, so it stands to reason that the people playing this game won't be as good at fighters in general.

IaMP is an exception because a fair number of people from the fighting game scene got into that just for the gameplay.

Yeah, you're right. Especially finding a way out of corners is really difficult to me. In fact, my skills at soku are : knowing a few strings/combos and dodging basic attacks.

I still don't have a clue how you guys can think about things like >>6889153 while you are playing. Basically, in-game, my "thoughts about strategy" can be summarized like that : seeing if the player is doing the same attack all the time, and trying to find some counter move (and I can see it only if the player is doing it again and again and again).

I do find the practice mode useful to find new strings, but I'm kinda forced to learn how to escape corner strings on the job.

>finding a way out of corners is really difficult
basic options when in the corner and block stuff are:
1. High jump
2. border escape
3. reversal
4. poke
5. system cards

High jump and border escape are for when they go from melee to bullets. The way melee works in soku means that you can only do so many melee attacks before having to use bullets or switch to specials. Things that beat these would be going from standard melee into melee specials, or high jump canceling bullets to follow you.
Not everyone has a reversal in soku, and some characters have to level them up in order for them to actually be worth using as reversals, and some you have to pick either melee invulnerability or bullet invulnerability when you do the input. Reversals are generally beaten if the other person stops attacking and lets you do the reversal, which they block and then punish.
Poking is like doing a reversal except you press 5A or something and hope it works. You need larger gaps so it doesn't work as often, and if they block expecting a reversal and you poke instead, you get to put them in blockstun.
System cards, you use either Iku's scarf or Reimu's bomb. Bomb works like a reversal except is a bit safer, but the scarf you can use while in blockstun and not have to wait for a gap, though it's easier to punish if they block it.

In short, pick one and mash the hell out of it while hoping that it works. You'll eventually get used to what can be used in what situation.

GG's, eventough I could only win once. I have no idea how to counter your alice, if you want to get close she outranges you with a physical move.

>> No.6889854

>>6889772
Focus first on escaping when defending, and only start counter-attacking when you're familiar enough with your opponent's pressure strings to recognize mistakes.
As a rule of thumb, far A / 6A / j6a into projectile is not airtight when blocked right, so you can generally graze after that. Remember you're vulnerable to melee while grazing, and that pressure strings will typically cover the grazing points with some fast melee followup. To prevent getting hit, you'll need to vary the direction you graze in when escaping (high jumps, dash fwd), and sometimes deliberately let some graze occasions pass, when you anticipate a melee special for example (you can generally safely punish blocked melee specials).
There's also BE, but that's only for when you have a solid grasp on how pressure works.

GGs again loli destroyer.
Just some advices :
Be careful on wakeup, just as before.
Don't give up, even if the opponent gave you a pretty hard time in a corner or whatever.
And finally, avoid as much as possible ceiling hugging. It doesn't help you and it slows the game.
You drain all your spirit and can't generally do much except a few projectile attacks (easily grazable since you're busy near the ceiling)

>> No.6889868

>>6889824
Mashing is an acceptable answer because it's something you can learn from.
If you were mashing and got hit, it means you need to mash less, stop mashing, or mash something other than what you were actually mashing.
If they were mashing and you got hit, it means you need stop expecting people to respect you and start baiting whatever they are mashing. If they were mashing dp in your blockstrings and you got hit, you need to use tighter blockstrings, or stop at the gap and block the dp. etc.

Host instead of join. Soku netplay favors the hoster and drops frames on the joiner's end for the kind of minor desyncs that happen all the time unless your connection's perfect. It's especially frustrating if the drops happen when you're flying or during blockstun when you start a movement to escape and then stop when cover it since it holds whatever your input was when the frameloss starts.

She's quite unique in how she plays, with that extremely fast and long-ranged alt.214 move and the screen-clearing alt.623 Icicle Lance that eats Okuu's fireball and Hell Wave Cannon in one shot even at level 1. I guess one of her main weaknesses is that her melee either has somewhat long startup or puny range, as well as very weak bullets in general. GGs, You got execution and stuff, but you mash a little too much. For example chances that your 5a beats my j5a are very slim, the only reason it sometimes worked was because of the lag :/

You should practice more on your defense, and be more carefull when you BE.

Oh, wow. Ironically, the reason I asked in this thread was because all my searches had led me to the old IaMP wiki which wasn't up.

>> No.6905294 [DELETED]

I have no clue if this is the right place to ask this, but it's still topic related.

I was able to host before, but only on my PC. I never had any luck on my laptop. Recently, my parents got a new router, messed around with it, and now I can't seem to host on my PC either. I noticed that my PC is now connected to my wireless router, which is connected to my router, which is connected to the wall.
I've tried opening ports on both routers, but I've still had no luck.
Is there any way I can get it open without messing with the wiring?

If you're playing Remi try not to use her default 22B/C. It's easy to see coming and it leaves you wide open when it's blocked. Also, try to escape from pressure with a border escape or a highjump or something rather than poking with a melee attack.

ggs. do you have any idea on what i should do after a BE? seems like everything i can do leads to a counter or gives you the momentum back. flying to the other side of the screen is not an acceptable solution, yet that's pretty much all i can think of that would beat tenshi's 2C.

>> No.6906472

>>6906435
I don't really know about playing Suwako, but those BE's that didn't let you escape were just read by me and you could've got away by not doing them. You were so eager to escape every time I got to pressure you that it was simply beneficial for me to go for 2dd punish. Suwako has quite bad air defensive options, so you should avoid getting hit in the air.

When we were neutral, Tenshi 2c totally ate your bullet cover and all you can really do against that is outzoning and not getting hit by it. I don't know if Suwako has some alt card that could beat it, but I doubt that would be better that simply not getting hit by it, since it's quite slow attack.

>> No.6906539

>>6906472
thanks for the advice.
I guess suwako's alt. 623 laser would do the work against tenshi's 2C, but i want to try to keep the 623c copter thingie. It's the only decent option suwako has for pressure mixups. I'll just concentrate on dodging these 2Cs a bit better. I'm still having a lot of trouble with my own movement.

Not even that. You can win lunatic arcade just by hammering B or C with most characters.
If you are talking about story mode, it's completely different from versus.

>>6914314
As for multiplayer tips:
-Don't mash. Patchouli players tend to spam 5C every chance they get and will hit a wall against players who know how to graze.
-Don't run away too much or fly to the ceiling. This will only drag on the match.
-Teching is not always the best choice. Unlike other games, you will not get hit if you don't.
-Read the wiki. You won't learn every single move by doing so but it'll help.

>>6914573
>Read the wiki. You won't learn every single move by doing so but it'll help
While I agree in theory and it's a potentially good starting place, most shit in the wiki needs to be updated BADLY. It's filled with combos that don't work, has move properties labeled that are no longer valid, etc. And there's no consistency to any of it. It'll have a 1.10 change for one move marked and then miss massive changes to the next five.

I doubt that, I've lost to other Okuu players many times in the past and I don't think I've improved that much since my last encounter with one.
