tsukihime gets called twilight for boys but if it was turned into a traditional novel and sold in bookstores do you think it would be popular? could nasu have been a millionaire if he had chosen a less niche format? what other visual novels do you think could be popular as regular books?

>> No.6875901

you mean make it more or less a light novel?
they don't sell all that well

>> No.6875909

Subarashiki Hibi would be critically acclaimed and be on the New York Times best seller list for years.

I've never even seen one in a book store so I'm not suprised. do they put them in the chinese comics section or with the legitimate books?

except the vn wasn't even all that great. I'm gonna guess you're one of those fags that haven't played it but still hype it none the less.

The former. And they also dress them up with shitty Western covers so as to alienate both consumer bases.

Will they ever re-print the first volume?
They started to do it right with the second volume and onwards now, though it won't matter much if I can't get the first colume with a proper cover.

Oh god, I never thought of it that way, but it's true. It's all so horribly true.

Is there a Twilight for straight boys? The only character in Tsukihime I lust after is Shiki.

>> No.6876290

I thought Scott Pilgrim was Twilight for boys.

Tsukihime as Twilight for boys? Then I could extract some enjoyment from the real Twilight too?

>> No.6876330

Silly people. You've got it the wrong way around. Tsukihime isn't Twilight for boys, Twilight is Tsukihime for girls.

>could nasu have been a millionaire if he had chosen a less niche format?

Doubt it. If at anything,it'd probably end up more obscure than it is now. There's probably like a million books out there by now but only a few hundred or thousand(?) VN's. It'd just get swept under the rug unless the marketing for it is all over the goddamn place like it was for say,the Da Vinci Code.

>> No.6876399

Since when the fuck was Tsukihime a Twilight for anything? get that shit outta here.

1/10 because I replied.

>> No.6876866

Ive always wanted to read higurashi adapted in novel format. I think it woul do well if made into a western movie.

>> No.6876878

Tsukihime is indeed Twilight for boys.

The same way cooking is engineering for girls.

You have no idea how good light novels sell in japan.

Also protip : Never call them light novels when you translate for western audience. Just stick them on the same shelf with young adult fiction or whatever.

Tsukihime for example could end up on the same shelf as harry potter(cant remember what shelf that is in).

Tsukihime? The same game that has tons of violent murder, rape, incest, and all sorts of nasty things? Do you REALLY think it'd be put on the same shelf as Harry Potter?

>> No.6876954

>>6876944
Uhhh of course. Its not like harry potter doesnt have bad things.

Not to mention tsukihime only has violent murder. It has implied rape for Ciel's backstory, and theres no actual incest since Akiha is not blood related.

>violent murder, rape, incest, and all sorts of nasty things?
i take it you've haven't read any newer young adult books, have you? Pretty much as long as there are no detailed sex scenes it would fit in perfectly.

>> No.6876971

In Twilight, Mary gets knocked up, the fetus breaks her spine while ripping itself out of her, and then a werewolf decides that it would really like to fuck that baby.

It's pretty much all but said that SHIKI raped Akiha on her route.

But whatever.
