Hello /jp/, I come to you in need of guidance on the subject of How does one 'Touhou'. I do understand the it was originally a shooting game that expanded into other media franchise. But is it necessary to begin with the former in order to understand the doujin? If so how can I obtain it?

The games? just google them, torrents are everywhere.
They are fun but hard, you get used to them though, although I still think they are better shooters out there, like ikaruga.

If you like the porn but not the games, grats, you are a secondary like most of /jp/

No one actually plays the games. Just download the music and fap to the porn.

A lot of people do play the games. But mostly people just like the characters, and the porn.

I'm really bad at the games but my touhou folder could crush an elephant

Also, I'm quite interested in this character Alice Margatroid. How does fanfiction depict her? aside from what I've gathered from touhou wiki:

>Likewise in fanworks, because of her perceived cold exterior and cowardly true persona, she is frequently depicted as a down-on-her-luck tsundere. In other cases, she's also been depicted as a yandere.

In canon works, Alice is a cold, if not particularly malevolent youkai who lives in isolation apparently trying to create a doll that 'moves on its own.' She doesn't get many visitors outside of lost humans (who are usually unnerved by her creepy as fuck doll-filled house and her tendancy to ignore guests) and Marisa (who uses the Forest of Magic for mushroom hunting and pesters Alice/steals her stuff).

Peripheral works have her engaging in odder behavior like nailing up curse dolls and purchasing some sort of medicine from Eirin that helps people dream vividly.

In fanwork, she's usually depicted as yandere for Marisa, tsundere for Marisa, or a horrific social cripple who is FOREVER ALONE. Sometimes these are mixed up and taken lightly; there's a fanwork rap where Alice gets in a passive-aggressive rap battle with Patchouli re: the latter working with Marisa at a convention.

Yeah.

Alice is also very smart and likes to play with her opponents for the sake of fun instead of actually going all out on them.

She seems to be constantly researching magic and other related stuff. Even being cold she will give you hand if you are in trouble, she's a person that is simply not very interested in mere relations but she seems to deal with everyone pretty well.

With an ironic and superior kind of speech she seems to be aware of the incidents quite fast compared to other characters.
