In D&D good and evil are objective terms, but in our human society they are subjective terms.
So when these subjective terms are forced as objective complications are bound to arise when pushed far enough.

I guess use of alignments and such can be passable if not taken too seriously, but the whole idea of D&D-type alignment is flawed.
