We should at least be glad that someone out there wants to let us know that yes, mods are watching, and yes, there is at least one who cares enough about /jp/ (and apparently knows it well enough) to do us a great service, by banning a spammer faggot. Even if it's basically symbolic in nature, it's a message nonetheless.

It says right there in the header, than moot just added some new mods. A public ban of an issue that only people on /jp/ really care about, could be a sign that we may have a potential new friend far more powerful than meido ever was. I say we do our best to stay on his good side, for the sake of /jp/.

I really, really hope that there's someone taking care of this board now and it wasn't just a random mod passing by. This place needs some moderation to keep all the anime spam and all the other shit out of this board.

Given how there's been a crackdown on some other relatively small (but drama filled) boards such as /tg/, and new mods, it wouldn't surprise me if moot is attempting to make 4chan not so shitty. Not too long ago someone asked him what he was thinking about and he said something along the lines of "how to make 4chan not be so shitty".

/soc/ appears to be to /b/ what /jp/ was to /a/, or more like /soc/ was made because /adv/ and /r9k/ failed to chemo /b/. However /soc/ is not even comparable to us, we are truly polar opposites of them in every conceivable way. I'm tempted to crown /soc/ as the new worst board on 4chan.

In my experience (5 years) public bans pretty much always derail the entire thread.
