No, I just do a route based on what I want, then go by walkthrough and stick with that.

Depends, if I had put it down for a while and picked it back up I might replay routes before finishing the others on basis of favoritism. Otherwise I typically go strait through without repeating until I'm done.

If I decide to go for someone's route it means I have interest in the character, so it's easy motivation.
If I don't care about the character I don't play the route unless I really like the game and /or its a game where there's an overall plot

If it's an harem/generic high school drama VN I just play the heroine's route I like most and forget about the others.
The only time I've returned to these games is when my tastes switched from tsunderes to dere osananajimi.
I don't know but nowadays tsunderes get on my nerves, I remember heroines suchs as Sanae from Sagara Family or Maya from Nocturnal Illusion, hell even Lize from Happy Princess and she's a fucking feminazi princess of a feminazi kingdom, and I still love them.

I do, however, tend to replay games multiple times after a little time. Probably going to replay Crescendo for the 4th time soon.

Depends on the game and what I'm after. A lot of games I download for one specific route, that happens a lot with incest routes where I downloaded the game just for the incest.

Some games I download because something caught my eye, cute character designs maybe (I'm in love with moege) or it's drawn by a favorite artist like Noizi Ito or Aoi Nishimata or I'm on a loli kick or something. Sometimes I'll choose a girl fairly early based on looks or her attitude and I'll do everything I can to win with her.

Then there's times were I'm interested in none specifically like Tropical Kiss and Wizard Girl Ambitious and I'll make choices as close to what I would in real life as possible and see who I end up with.

I've replayed a few VNs, some several times, just because I like a girl a lot. I think I played Shuffle! about 8 times.

I've felt sorry for girls I've not chosen before but I don't think I've felt sorry for the heroine I just won with. Winning with them implies they got the best results possible and there's no reason to be sad, I'll be with them forever.

Actually in the re-release of Crescendo there are alternative stories and Yuka's is actually about that, mc leaves her because he doesn't think their relationship is "sane" and at the end during graduation he finds her still happy but with someone else.
