It's an inconsiderate stance, but not incorrect. For being the first project of more-or-less amateur animators, it was surprisingly complete. There are expected things like OP, ED, high quality (and decently cast) VAs, and animation that - while not perfect - is very honest. And on top of that they do a subtitled release with English, showing acknowledgment and consideration for foreign fans. Personalities are a bit off, some visual design is lacking, and characters are rarely 100% on-model, but those would fade with experience and a larger staff. So I'd say that while I don't expect you to do better if you want to be critical, I would want some consideration given to what they achieved.

Yet to say a doujin work needs to have precise representation of characters and/or artistic skill to 'count' would invalidate almost every doujin manga out there. It wasn't something "resembling" a Touhou doujin animation, it was a Touhou doujin animation, with both flaws and points of excellence.
