How sweet.

But, how many people care about this guy whose nickname contains the name of his favourite drink and play starcraft for thousand of years only to win a trophy?

Me, I don't give two fucks about him.

Yes, it's beautifull if you win money and prizes doing what you like, of course. But if you don't work for our society, you're wasting your time doing NOTHING, admit it and stop making stupid excuses to justify what can't be justified.

Go out and find a damn fucking job!

Honey, you're posting on /jp/.

Sure playing video games doesn't contribute to society, but same can be said about the athletes, actors, idols, or anyone else in the entertainment industry.

Really? Sometimes I wonder where am I.

And I am here for the otaku culture, not to heard epic stories of neet koreans playing starfcraft competitions.

If someone is doing what he enjoys and he's making good money out of it, he's better off than 99.9999 percent of humanity and nobody should begrudge him his fortune.

Besides, who's to say what productive is? Take your typical banker or lawyer or politician. In a sense they are productive; they provide very real services and have a high level of expertise (well, the politician aside.) But they don't produce anything positive for the vast majority of people and arguably make things worse for humanity on the whole.

I think Korean SC and a few FPS tourneys in Europe are the only video games that have big winnings really.

>> No.6448352

I don't know who this guy is and I don't care about SC but I wholeheartedly agree about this 'wasted time' thing

To be considered normal you have to have a job and fill the remaining time with something, most likely with "friends" or "girlfriend" or "family" or whatever, depending on your gender. Is it really that much of a sin to prefer a hobby over hanging out with other people? I have you /jp/, you are more than enough company for me. I'm a little sad that we will never dress up each other as little girls, since we'll never meet, but it's fine. We can always post pictures. One day, I shall make my dream come true, I can promise you that

Yeah, farmers are the worse. They keep polluting the earth and destroying the forests just to feed cattle or to produce ethanol for rich ppl cars. What's worse is that they earn their money by selling to rich companies the fruit of the earth while millions of niggers die in newyork and africa.

Really, gamers are actually not that bad.

For making legitimate money so you can do nothing but play? Right now you have

SC2 and Quake. DotA/HoN/LoL don't get enough tournys to live off of. Counter Strike might still be able to give you a living if you're winning everything. I'm not sure about fighting since I don't really follow it.

Although if you're American Halo Reach is by far your best bet. Not the highest skill ceiling but a huge pool of players.

If you're interesting in the eSports professional lifestyle and have no real skills to build with, your best bet is Halo or Starcraft 2. SC2 is great because its a new game and it tourneys almost every week. You could also prep for DotA2 with HoN/LoL, I'm thinking with Valves involvement it'll have a real competitive following~

Not exactly the route I would suggest for the average /jp/er. Mainly due to a lot of games you have to be a social butterfly to get pass mid level in the skill gap unless you have exceptional skill.

Also the life is fucking hard. Expect to lose everything you have until you reach the top. Not hard if you have nothing, but it can get really stressful as you climb the ladder

Exactly, that's why Korean players excel at it so much. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

japan sucks at starcraft. korean master race gamer jaedong commented that beating the jap contestant at wcg was like playing the computer.

The Japanese never had any players excel at anything else other then fighters.

They're probably mid tier at RTS, high tier at fighting, and ohmywtfareyoudoing tier at FPS

Working for the society is even worse than playing games all day because:

- You're not having fun, nor you are turning yourself into something better.

- Helping society in the way that society itself wants is usually self-destructive (IE. helping the poor and turning them into useless parasites incapable of doing anything for their own well being, selling fast-food instead of the healthy food that people need to become stronger, etc).

>> No.6448594

This thread reminds me of when I showed some Japanese guy I met in an FPS game /jp/. He said he would frequent /jp/ for a while to try and improve his English, or something. I wonder if he's still around.

Yeah online games are kind of new in general to the Japanese. They're traditionally arcade game bros.

Which is the opposite everywhere else in the world I guess: the lack of arcades is what made everyone else go for online gaming.
