I liked the part where they started fighting then somehow fell over and landed into a compromising position. What're the odds of that? I've never seen it done in an anime before, it was so wacky and random!

I had a problem with that scene too. The series is not so bad, the protagonist is decent and he does seem to have his feet on the ground besides being a little bit too dense. The sister is the tried and true tsundere but her behavior doesn't bother me that much because the brother is not a direct love interest. I mean take shows like Shakugan no Shana or Zero no Tsukaima for example, tsundere towards the love interest is much worse because that sort of shit is retarded. Brother and sisters having quarrels even though they love each other is much more natural. That specific scene however had fanservice written all over it, I know it's a show about Otaku but damn it felt out of place. Either you embrace fanservice (Strike Witches) or don't do it at all.

An anime is not meant to be in touch with reality or it would be real life. The characters in every anime are going to have excentuated personality quirks that would normally be toned down IRL. We can relate to these quirks, even if we don't experience them as strongly as the characters in an anime do, also many times these quirks can have comedic value as well. Personally I found this scene where Kysouke falls on Kirino to have more comedic value than fanservice.

It's more about the way the characters act towards the world/others. Dennou Coil for example is completely fictional with all the crazy tech but the characters feel real, as in they don't act in retarded ways that are out of touch with their own reality.

I can't relate that much to be honest, I rather have believable personalities such as the characters in Planetes than having overblown personalities suited better for sitcoms. But maybe I'm delving into this too much, this Anime is clearly made mostly for comedic quirks anyway.
