Is japanese food part of the otaku culture?

I ask this because I wanted to ask you a question. I ate today in a oriental restaurant, and I ate some sushi but... it had this weird green sauce that taste like two-thousand thirty-one with one five three period demons. Well, to be more specific, it tastes like spicy wall paint.

I wanted to ask you if you know what it is? Because... well, I know it's not wall paint because it was with the food in a bowl with a spoon, so I am curious to know what kind of sauce is this...

Ok, thank you kind sir.

>> No.6233079

May it be wasabi?
to much of that and it will taste like shit.

>> No.6233085

Green stuff is wasabi

And no, I don't like most of the OMG JAPANESE KAWAII FROM NIPPON ^-^ food. Some sorts of sushi is okay, but most of the japanese food is not really tasty, and I'd rather have something that I know I like.

Oh, Wasabi. Now I know why the spice rose up to my nose. Yes, it must be Wasabi. Thank you a lot!

A friend of mine that was eating with us told me that it was made with acovado pear.

OP why the fuck are you using a fork and knife to eat sushi

Here's some /jp/ cuisine for you.

It isn't if you are mexican/indu.

Those two races supposedly have extra thick mouth skin that lets them endure all that acid.

Weeaboo means wapanese. Does eating Japanese food make you want to be Japanese ? Nope.

A cheap hot mustard is tastier in my opinion, seriously. I have tried to find some charm in that spicy and bitter taste, but repeatedly failed. The only Japanese food I really appreciate is soy sauce, a must be for rice. Then again, I have never been a gourmet and most of the time I just eat junk food.

>> No.6235956

Well most of the asian food i tried is pretty damn shitty. So I'll stick with out glorious juicy western one.

Meanwhile: Japan, and its fascination with European foodstuffs. I then ask: is western food part of Japanese otaku culture?

>> No.6239513

I like spicy stuffs, not ordinary spicy but real oriental hot spicy stuffs.

But wasabi is different than ordinary, that's not spicy.
its like drinking a whole bottle of vaseline.

>> No.6239514

there is definitely something wrong with that wasabi in OP's pic. It shouldn't be so 'liquid'.

Protip: Japanese food lacks flavor and seasoning.

Take a look at other cultures that had to scratch the bottom of the barrel and still managed to make tasty food like the Chinese or the Mexican. The japanese lack imagination. They are good a being copycats though, improving over a design.

This. Japanese food is kind of boring, I prefer Mediterranean/Middle East food. Boy can they season stuff

>> No.6240768

wtf that isn't wasabi. It's some sort of sauce. If you put that much wasabi in your mouth you would pass out plus wasabi isnt fucking liquid. It's a sauce that maybe has some wasabi in it.

>> No.6241306

Japanese food?

Fuck that.

I have cheeseburgers, American food is so goddamned deep-fried delicious, why would I put that raw-fish shit in my mouth?

>> No.6241319

>>6239541
I prefer bland food. Spiced food makes me cry. Literally.
