What are your favorite spellcards, and why?

Also, what is your preference in choosing your favorite spellcards? Name? Difficulty? Innovation? ZUN description? Or is it the overwhelming beauty?

>> No.6220298

Who the fuck do you think you are, the preference police or something?
Stop trying to pry into my mind.

This would imply that you can play SA on lunatic.

I don't believe it.

>> No.6220319

Last spellcard for Yuyuko, Resurrection Butterfly. Beauty, music and the adrenaline that ran through me the first time I faced it.

>> No.6220327

Byakuren's last spell, BoLAD, BoWaP, Yuugi's spellcard with the diagonal storms of large bullets, VoWG, Game of Rising ot whatever it's called with the 3 sizes of bullet, Scarlet Gensokyo, Froggy Braves the Elements, probably a few misc. ones from PCB, and maybe some of Meiling's rainbow stuff come to mind.

I don't care for the beauty of spellcards, I only live to evade and destroy.

Hmm? This is just a screen.

I usually play on Hard. I'd have to get lucky to get that far on Lunatic at the moment.

Anyways, some of my favorite cards include:

Virtue of the Wind God (Reimu)-one of the only Lunatic final spells that I can proudly say I can handle, and it's a lot of fun

Border World "Hakurei Danmaku Bounded Field"- (Reimu)Feels pretty unique...even though it's apparently derived from Yukari

Harbor Sign "Eternally Anchored Ghost Ship" (Murasa)-Anchor Madness!

Explosion Sign "Peta Flare" and its varients- (Okuu) It's just awesome to have huge giant spheres of destruction come at you shrinking, and feels like something different than usual.

There's lots of others but I can't think of them at the moment. Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoilers in particular had many creative cards.

If you could hope to get past Orin on lunatic, you are a better man than I.

>> No.6220389

>>6220379
Again, I'd have to be extremely lucky and bombing a lot. However, in general I never found Orin to be harder than Okuu unlike a lot of people, except for a few cards that I usually end up bombing on. Okuu's second-to-last card (Hell's Tokamak? I only remember because all my previous livestream folders were named after character spellcards...) slaughters me.

Oh yeah, I really liked creative cards that present a themed feel like Murasa's "Drowning" one in DS. It really does present a feeling of drowning! I just find it really cool when spellcards really present an aspect of the character. Silent words spoken through danmaku!

>> No.6220399

>>6220389
I also like that Murasa's nonspells together represent a sun setting on the ocean as you come closer to defeating her.

>> No.6220401

Suwako's last timeout spellcard, "Suwa War - Native Myth vs Central Myth". It starts out easy and eventually gets pretty hectic. I think ZUN did a pretty good job to bring the war between Kanako and Suwako in a spellcard.

Other then that, I like a lot of MoF's spellcards. Aya's timeout cards, Sanae's cards and some of Kanako's especially.

80% of the spells in both StB and DS

a stage that stands out though is stage 7 in StB - bonus points for hearing Retrospective Kyoto for the first time

Yuuka's last spell is nice looking, considering the technology. Also, EX-Alice's attacks are all great.

>> No.6220474

My favorite spellcards are the ones that let me move according to my reflexes without worrying about running into slow random bullets everywhere. Examples are Kanako's last, Aya's last, and EX-Kogasa's second.

Its funny, cause I don't usually spend that much time on each boss & spellcards enough to remember too many of them except for the ones in SA. The only bosses spellcards I have engraved into my brain is Utsuho's, because of how long it took me to learn how to beat her. If I had to choose one I'd have to go with Hell and Heaven Meltdown for how hard it was for me to learn.

Icicle Fall (Easy)

Because it gets me close to Cirno.

The only card of Utsuho that is complex enough to require learning is Seven Stars "Septentrion" .
That's an opinion.

IIRC there are some unnamed attacks in those games. Anything without a spellcard background isn't a spellcard.

What are you talking about? The first battle of nearly each character in StB is a non-spellcard.

Although it's essentially a spellcard, but doesn't count as one, just like how final bosses have non-spellcard patterns worthy of being spellcards.

Any of the ones that represent an aspect of a character or time in with the music. Scarlet netherworld I like, simply because by the time I get to it with Reimu B the music starts to shift into the more speedy measures.

god damn, now i see that i mistook stage 7 for 8. sorry, that one is my fav, with Ran and Yuyuko. 8 - 3 and 8 - 6 were the most memorable cards for me

Because holy shit, that name. It's a shame the name and pattern layout changed in higher difficulties.

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody of all Mankind: I just love that (excuse the usage of this word) "epic" feeling and I love the thought of a touhou version of the Spirit Bomb. Plus the music and the background are just icing on the cake.

Devil's Recitation: An old favorite from PC-98 ZUN brought back in UFO, I just like how the danmaku blocks around a 90% of the screen and only allows you to dodge in the middle area. When Shinki used it, you really felt you were fighting a god who cornered you in that place. Also the music is really fitting.

MS Extra Second Ultimate Magic spell: I just love how dynamic this spellcard is, right left right left, not a single second of rest.

>> No.6221690

Oh and Danmaku Bounded Field, even though it's easy and only the last part is the shocking one I simply can't forget the feeling of "oh god I'm fucked" I got when i first got to it.

>> No.6221778

Possessed by Phoenix because it's fucking godly and it blew my mind the first time I got to it. And because it's a timout spell you can actually win without timing out.
