I just hang out here because the doubles faggotry is not accepted here, also most of the memes such as gets aren't welcomed here. It feels like this board is on a whole different level than most of 4chan; like more "grown up". Of course, there are kids from /a/ who occasionally try to "troll" us and shit, but it's nothing like those shitholes like /a/ or even /b/ that constantly try to be funny by inventing shittier and shittier memes and jokes.

i like /jp/ because the users here are very mature.

You obviously don't seem to like Touhou, or VNs, or anything this board concerns itself with for that matter, and as such (rather narrowmindedly) cannot possibly see what can be gotten out of discussing any of them. However, unlike you the people who do enjoy these things can discuss them at length, at leisure, and ad nauseum, conversing over every nook of their essence, because it is fun to do so.

/jp/ is Manchild Central. It is nigh-on impossible to have any sort of mature discussion here. Trolling is practically the norm. Hundred-post-long screamfests are also the norm.

Certain threads, of course, are the exception to the rule.

The Trap threads are an example of /jp/ having a mature discussion, which continually fascinates me. I know not whether it is a sacred cow that /jp/ dares not troll, or if they enjoy special perks because other members of /jp/ hope to j-j-jam it in one of the resident traps, but the non-stop trolling and crying seems to stop with a firm halt at those thread, for whichever reason.

The Comiket threads, as well, are strangely void of trolls.

I come here for the Touhou. And first of all, I like the pace of this board. I post something and get an answer quickly enough; I don't have to leave the computer and come back hours later. It's the only Touhou community where you can do this, and I think it's quite fun. We have a lot of bad threads, I hate the whole bitches and whores thing going on, and people shitfest a lot. But the truth is, as long as I can speak to a few people with the same interests as me in real time without having to feel nervous about the things I say being tied to some sort of internet persona/username, I'm happy.

There are few nice people on /jp/, and since we are all anonymous I don't have to know exactly who thinks what, meaning I can appreciate it when one person has an educated opinion on one thing even if they are douchebags otherwise.

There are other boards that are probably better than /jp/, but they don't have Touhou so I keep coming back here anyway. I'm okay with this, I don't expect /jp/ to be some glorious master race-only place producing quality threads at godspeed. I know it's pretty shitty on here most of the time, but that makes it even easier to appreciate it when we do have good threads.

Yes, /jp/ is manchild central, and has some similarities with /tg/ in that aspect.
And manchilds aren't mature, that's why are man-children, and simply not men.

But I can't help to feel that the others boards aren't even manchildren, they are simply children.
And while manchildren aren't mature, they can have some kind of "broken" maturity to them due to actually being older, where they can be somewhat more sensible in certain areas while remaining a child in others.

I'd like to mention that, in my opinion, the "manchild" part is less taken from the hobbies the posters have and more their general maturity level. /jp/ can have some nice threads, but everyone here is just purposefully nasty for no apparent reason. By and large, though, /jp/ is just unpleasant to be around. The only reason I even still bother with this forum is because I like touhou and still keep up with Umineko

When you look at collective efforts to talk about something that is exciting and relevant to the board, like getting new stuff from a recent Comiket etc, /jp/ has better collaboration and solidarity than anywhere else on 4chan by a longshot.

It's almost a bit like old /b/ in that old /b/ was actually somewhat skilled at massive cooperation. Nowadays places like /v/ and /b/ try to do something and then half the posts are people doing the exact opposite of what was planned/agreed upon because they think it's funny to troll what was supposed to be another troll.

Which is why when a board gets to trolls trolling trolls status, it is officially worthless. /jp/ can basically act like Night Elves in Warcraft III and uproot the whole village to repel invaders, and then revert to having functional sectors again right after.
