I don't think so, technically. But I am not sure.
There's a transition time between when you are hit and when you technically die. That seems to be made on purpose, it's more logic to make an insta-death as soon as you are hit.

They were in some Cave shooters, weren't they?

the transition time is too small. i think that in programming zun might have given death not high enough priority, and that is why there is transition in the first place.
