Given how badly they fucked up ALL of the fights in season 1, I don't really want them to make a second season.

A lot of the stuff COULD be awesome if done right, like Dlanors Red Sword of awesome, or the entire wedding crash scene, but it would require money and skill that Deen just doesn't have.

Another Umineko Anime is something that'll never friggen happen unless the Company that's doing it decides to start from the VERY beginning and work its way up to the answer arcs. DEEN Raped Umineko so much it's impossible to use that as a leaping board. They made the thing out to be a Horror story not a damn Mystery.

It'd also need like 60 something episodes in total if the story is to come across so it doesnt seem assfucked.

To note:
Less creepy maria scenes

Cut it out with the red/blue text.
This works in the VN exactly because it's a VN, it fits fine because it's all text in the first place.
In the anime it's stupid and pointless.
They gloss over too many things for the red text to be useful anyway.

It's kind of like the Kannon anime, they really half assed it the first time.
Later when they remade it it was much higher quality in every way and had twice as many episodes, which it sorely needed.

Though I don't think DEEN made the Kannon anime, we can basically expect this to never happen to the umineko anime.

The Umineko anime just shows how ridiculously stupid Umineko gets, and people don't like to be confronted with that harsh truth. The dragon (among other things) was in the VN, but you don't fully realize the absurdity of it until you actually see it.

Chiaki Kon is still a terrible director though.

That's the problem. It could have been handled much better, but Kon Chiaki's terrible directing made it worse. Everyone knew the VN had its moments of gross stupidity, but they were funny. Small bombs, Kinzo dragon, Krauss-counter...all of it was just pointless but entertaining. Chiaki Kon failed at making them entertaining.

People have suggested that SHAFT do Umineko, but I'm not sure if I would like the result.

The ones they DID show were completely mangled, though. It wasn't the fault of the medium, but the fault of the director. Many people were willing to accept an adaptation that misses on some things but still carries the general air of the original. Umineko failed at that.

SHAFT remake is the only option. In before slideshow, I'm talking more about the style they used for Bakemonogatari. Think of all the deliciously wacky visual motifs they'd use when explaining shit? Just imagine, how deliciously twisted the gore would be. It would also have the best opening/ending. Imagine if SHAFT had done the series originally, and kept the OH DESIRE ending. I can't even begin to comprehend the greatness it could have been. Kinzo wildly fleeing about the mansion, anyone?
