Patchouli arrived this morning from Japan. Enjoying the :< and all, but I notice that she's got a little bit of extra material on her hat. It's minor, but it's annoying, because every time I look down at her, I see it standing out against the stark whiteness of her hat.

I ordered it from a hobby shop on eBay. Should I return it, or try to fix it myself?

>> No.5296933

Would kind of monster are you that would close their door to a patchouli, face full of tears, as she stumbles on your doorway in ragged dirty clothes?

>> No.5296929

She is adorable. Whatever you decide to do make sure you're careful!

>> No.5296934

Depends, how many days you have to wait?

>> No.5296955

W...what?

>>5296934

Not sure... I'd imagine I have a week or so. At least until the end of the weekend.

I used to paint tabletop miniatures a decade ago, so I have some skill with modelling/painting. I don't know if I can match up the colour of her hat exactly though... it seems kind of like a shade, an off-white with a bit of cream or lavender in it. And I've never worked with PVC before, I don't know what'll happen if I try to snip it off like pewter...

>> No.5296960

It looks minor enough that you can probably do it yourself.

If you are afraid of ruining it, though, try taking it to a local hobby shop and ask for advice there.

Usually, it is written that what you see in sample pictures aren't exactly what you could get and that little errors are common.

Leave it alone. You can be happy that your Patchy is unique.

Also, do treat yourself to a desk, please.

>> No.5296998

Has anyone worked with PVC before? It's fairly soft, so I don't know whether to try to cut it off or file it off.

I'm home for the summer from uni. Got my computer set up in the dining room of my parents' house. I promise I'll get a real table eventually. Unless I drop out of uni next semester and become a NEET

The error bit might be a little more visible in this pic.

I think it's better to leave it alone. The chances of ruining it are high.

Mine has some blue paint on it's foot :<

>>5297030

Hmm, does yours also have brown paint bleeding into the white (page) corners of her book? Because that's another minor error I noticed, although one I could correct a lot easier than the hat

>> No.5297056

>>5296998
it's a painted surface, so you'll need to repaint. File it off with high grit.

>> No.5297061

>>5296998
I don't imagine filing it will work very well, it is likely you will scratch up the paint on her hat and aggravate the situation.

Cutting carefully and dabbing a bit of paint on the spot afterwards might be best.

It does but minor. I bought mine specifically second hand with errors, but i was prepared to give her a good home~

>> No.5297072

You can probably ask >>>/toy/ for some input.

But I believe you should let her be. Just because she's unique doesn't mean she won't love you. ;_;

>> No.5297094

You can probably fix the blub with a hot needle. You may want to practice though.

>> No.5297110

I almost bought that patchouli for 200jpy + shipping, but times are tough and I hesitated too much before someone else bought her. ;_;

You should be ashamed of yourself.
Patchouli is perfect in every way, you need to get over yourself and learn to love her as she is.

>> No.5297186

I'm gonna take the plunge and try fixing Patchy.

I'll post my results sometime in the next few days.

mukyu~

Perhaps he's bugged by the fact she looks angry at him...maybe she's not pleased with her lack of repairs.

Leave Patchouli alone! It's just like >>5296933 said, you would turn her away just because her hat is ever so slightly marred? You have everything to lose and nothing to gain!

I'm not going to throw her away if I make her worse.

I'll just give her away to a female family member as a gift, and buy a Sakuya plushie instead

Sure looked like hardwood flooring in that first pic. Hope you have enough white paint for the whole hat if the colours end up not matching.

Never bought a figure online, but I'm now tempted, really tempted...

>> No.5297325

I actually noticed the imperfection before reading the post, but I wouldn't let it bother me enough to try and fix it myself. These things are bound to have some sort of blemish somewhere. Chances are, you might just make it worse. Give it a week or so and maybe you'll get used to it.

Why did you post this, now I want to get one too.

Patchy was the only one that really stood out to me. There are some really beautifully done PVC figs for Touhou, but they tend to be very large. I like Patchy because she's inconspicuous... if normalfags are around, I don't have to hide her to avoid trying to explain things that won't be understood anyway.

I'm not crazy about most of the other characters in the same line as Patchy though. Sakuya looks kind of cheap especially.

All of the plushies I've seen look pretty cheap too. The felt reminds me of stuff I made in summer camp arts and crafts.

That's about how long it'll take me to get a modelling knife, brush and paint, so I guess I will.
