Hello, JP. I am your average civili/a/n, so I apologize if this topic is too out-of-the-ordinary.

I woke up this morning with a Haruhi Suzumiya fanfiction idea and before I started writing out this outline, there were a few questions/concepts I was hoping to organize:

1) Does the name 'Mikuru' have a unique meaning in Japanese?

2) Would 'Urukimi' be a plausible name for a girl? If so, would this word also have a meaning?

3) How would the words "Mikuru" and "Urukimi" look in Japanese? I guess this question is the weirdest since there are multiple writing styles of this language...

Thanks in advance, /jp!

Does that mean the two parameters shouldn't add up, or both together equals a 'double fail?' I'll just guess you mean the latter.

If /jp is not appropriate for this, then what is?

One possible way of writing the name Mikuru in kanji is 未来る, meaning "yet to come" (i.e. "future").

Her name is 朝比奈 みくる in Japanese, but why would you write her name in Japanese in an ENGLISH fanfiction?

And where did you get "Urukimi" from? That doesn't make sense.

Your idea is bad and you should feel bad.

Urukimi makes no sense. If you're gonna make a blatant Mikuru ripoff, use the name Kurumi as that actually is a name. But don't expect us to care about your fanfic because it will most likely be shitty. There's maybe 1 out of every 200 fanfics that are actually GOOD, and even then they're just mediocre works in a large heap of shit.

that's my girlfriend name! (me in the pic)

I love how people pull random names out of their ass. You actually need to use multiple kanji to make a name. Stringing together a bunch of Japanese-esque syllables doesn't work.

>> No.5133386

Urukimi? Seriously? Is there going to be Ihurah, Noyk and Ikuy as well? Shit like this is why fanfics are always shitty.

I had the feeling it was dumb, and it displays my lack of knowledge in the Japanese language. It's why I brought it up to avoid a completely idiotic idea.

Does 'Kurumi' have a meaning?

I appreciate what little toleration I can get. I was sort of anticipating this.

>But don't expect us to care about your fanfic because it will most likely be shitty. There's maybe 1 out of every 200 fanfics that are actually GOOD, and even then they're just mediocre works in a large heap of shit.

Pretty much true. Only certain types of people would attempt to deal with them in general. It's just something I got into after reading the light novels to HS. Volume 10 is something I'm anticipating.

I'm pretty sure /a/ would have told you to get out as well.

You are coming to /jp/ for fanfiction help.

I know we're the Otaku Culture board, and I guess fanfictions are TECHNICALLY that is you squint hard enough, but seriously?
