If you want to play Verita, you need to play Ikusa Megami Zero first.
Verita explains nothing, starting it first would be like reading a book starting with one chapter in the middle.
But it's worth it, get into this series one day, you won't regret it

Also currently playing Kikaijikake no Eve, surprisingly very good.

Currently reading ef. Got up to near the end of the second route. Seems really interesting so far, but I kinda dislike how each 'tale' has a different protag and girl. It explains mostly everything about the setting and what the fuck is happening, it's also a fucking great eroge.

You could also play the Genrin series that come before Verita but honestly it's not really a requirement.
