Posting with a name or trip violates this in two ways; the first is that the person with the trip is not acting alongside the anonymous posters, which invokes an "us vs them" response. They are considered to be acting outside of society's rules (the society of the board), and so most anonymous users will react negatively.

The second reason is that enough trippers have donned the trip code in order to attention whore, so it has become a stereotype, further increasing the negativity with which anonymous posters view people with tripcodes.

For the first point, why do you consider anonymity to be so vital to the board? Clearly other boards (like 420chan, and 7chan for a while) get along with no anonymity (a randomly-generated name or poster ID, but consistent among one IP) just fine, and in fact can be quite a bit higher quality than 4chan. If that doesn't apply to you, feel free to give theories relating to the typical poster who hates tripfags.

As for the second, why not act rationally about the situation? Not judging a person before you know them is one of the best ways to be at least reasonably civil, and will help you get a fairer image of people in general or specific.

Personally, I tripfag for attention, but not to garner it in a negative way - more to let people know it's me posting, and to give me accountability by way of reputation.

The internet in general is a bastion of fakeposting, spamming, and trolling. This is even more true on 4chan thanks to how easy it is to post here. Why, even you or I could be fakeposting right now. There is no way to know. And because of that reason I feel that the name field is irrelevant in the big scope of things. I also thought trips were pure evil back when I was a dedicated Anon poster years ago, but I have personally have moved beyond using it as a scapegoat.

Anyways, there is no need for someone to sit through spam from /b/, KoG, and AnT. So using a filter is fine. Unless someone actually enjoys that stuff, of course.

The thing with tripfags is that they become some sort of 'elite', and anonymous posters feel excluded.
Having a name on a board full of anymous users makes you look like you're higher up than the rest. Tripfags also get much more attention than others, and that's no ones fault, It's just the way it will always be when you have a couple of named people on a board filled with "nobodies". This is EXTREMELY noticeable on IRC: People who are known tripfags chat about constantly while those with unfamiliar nicks are just ignored, not because there's anything wrong with their content but because no one knows their name.

Tripfags are like the "higher than thou" people on forums with >3000 posts, which is what we're trying to get away from when we post on 4chan.
Like moot said at TED; That without anonymity the discussion is always about "Who's saying what" and not "What they're saying". Just look at this thread.
With anonymity, everyone is on an equal standing, all posts are of equal value. You can be sure that your posts won't be ignored just because some famous guy posted below you.
