I'd actually planned to play through Star Ocean 2 for the first time rather recently, but Final Fantasy XIII has caught my grasp and the Fal'Cie Bartandelus has been kicking my ass up and down.

He's easy, just have a typical MMO type of party.

What I did was use Lightning (as the player) as commando, Hope as a medic, and whatever the australian bitches name was (not Vanille) as sentinel.

You'll survive killing all 4 heads (not the main middle one) real easily if you do that for about 5-10 minutes. Im sure theres an easier way but whatever.

When it's just the giant head, just do commando medic ravager or keep her as sentinel still and take forever then too.


I dunno, im sure it's easier if you do it another way - but I was just patient and really did nothing special but x spam while amazon lady took all the damage and hope kept us alive.

Though he does an ALMOST 1hit ko move, but if you have at least 1300 hp you should barely survive and heal fast with potions or something if hope doesnt fucking do his job.

Also star ocean 2 is far better, you need to play it, it's still my favorite rpg.

The problem I seem to be having is that I can't take down his heads fast enough before he starts quintuplespamming -aga spells which stunlocks all my characters until we're dead. If I try to draw fire with a Sentinel, the AI is always retarded and happens to get near the other characters instead of luring the AOE attacks away.
I'm using Lightning (Commando/Ravager/emergency Medic), Snow (Sentinel/Ravager), and Vanille (Constant Medic).

Seriously, all I did for the four heads was spam x and lightning kept doing blitz (and thus taking out one head while taking the one next to it down to like 50% hp or less at the same time) on the furthest out head on each end.

This only took me like 5 minutes per side - dealing with the main one takes a little longer though as you pretty much have to survive almost-1hit kos and can only hurt him when he's broken for the most part.

I dont know how you could take care of that stunlocking issue though, I never got that.

Also for when you finally can get to the main part of the boss - make sure you have at least 1300 hp for lightning, you can survive with sometimes around 120 hp (sometimes less even) so its risky to go with less hp than that on the person you're in control of.

Well, I mean we get hit by a spell then get launched into the air and have to wait a full second to do anything, then get hit by another spell when we try to cast cure and get launched again ad muertum.
I can only manage to kill a single head before he Magic Amplifications twice, where the -agas promptly stall us to death.

I doubt I'd even have a problem with that part. Lightning has 1500 HP and 10% magic resistance, if it's a magical attack. The issue is that Lightning and Vanille are unable to do ANY HEALING because they are constantly stunned until death.

Well when you first start the fight - go in as commando, healer, and snow as commando too. It will get him to attack away from you (if he doesnt, just attack what he's attacking or go yourself to the other side of the main head) then switch quickly to commando/healer/sentinel and you will all be separated.

Sometimes it'll still hit him and vanille, or all three of you, but most of the attacks will be aimed to the side then if he keeps the aggro.

Also, put on one of those things that doubles the healing power of potions and put it on lightning - don't waste time putting her into medic, just use pots, they heal 300 hp to everyone with the double thing on and it takes no time or anything from your ATB either.

I've only managed to keep him away from the group long enough to kill two heads, and only managed THAT once. However, that wasn't even with the current party I was using (instead of Vanille, I had Sazh as a Synergist and Ravager).

I'll keep trying, as I can only assume I'm doing something wrong here.

It was really simple up till the main head for me (i even had to fight him 3 times cuz i suck, but each time the 4 were easy to take out).

If he's really sucking it up that badly, just go into the fight with him as a sentinel already so he'll stay right next to vanille - sure they both get hit but fuck 'em. Usually stays barely alive - and if not, bring a shit ton of pots and that accessory and keep them alive while your ATB charges...constantly. ಠ_ಠ

Dont listen to Currybutt. What you need is:

Lightning, Hope and Sahz.

Healer-Enhancer-Enhancer (starting party, keep it until you are full buff. Sahz will rebuff with the 5th strategy, and there will be an attacker to keep the combo gauge up, but when rebuffing with Hope, it isn't the case. So be aware of that, and switch fast to a strategy with an attacker when you are rebuffing with Hope to avoid losing your current combo)
Attacker-Blaster-Blaster (after performing a shock, use this to drain as much life as possible)
Attacker-Healer-Blaster (Usual attack party, DD and combo)
Blaster-Blaster-Blaster (Use this when you are full life, full buff, but don't abuse it because you'll die , use it, for, like, two rounds of attacks. It really pumps up the combo gauge though)
Attacker-Healer-Enhancer (this one is to have Sahz rebuffing -booster is the most important- without losing the combo gauge)
Healer-Healer-Attacker (Use this after his big attack to replenish fast, Sahz is here to keep the combo gauge up)


Be sure to always be full buff, all the more when the head is alone. This shouldn't be a difficult fight, have you been avoiding many fights?

The game is easy enough to literally spam x 90% of every fight, including bosses.

Why would I not do that? I prefer real rpg's that actually make you play during fights - this one doesnt. But just because i prefer that doenst mean ill go out of my way to make an easy game more difficult on me.

Are you implying that buffing doesn't make long fights incredibly easier and shorter? Have you ever tried haste? Sure is fun doing twice the number of actions you would have done in the same time otherwise. Seriously, Buff, then spamm X, you'll see that instead of 50 minutes, the fight will last 5 minutes.

Honestly I don't think XIII is all that great, so i admittedly would rather not sit there thinking or paying much attention during the fights - i'd rather just let them happen while im not even paying attention.

So I do so.

It's a good game but not something that i care so much about that ill go out of my way to make the fights super efficient and be the strongest and have the best equipment and etc.

I'm just playing it to beat it - and i have literally all day to do it every day, so I mean i have no rush at all.
