Well shit.
I attempt to establish a new brewery/distillery with my knowledge of western techniques.
I use the spirits produces to pay for the rice/barley/whatever and use any remaining to send a caravan to Old Hell and befriend the Oni, in exchange for a couple of boulders of iron ore.
I sell some of the ore to locals, and use the proceeds to cobble together a bloomery and produce steel.
The revolutionary "new" material will make me fabulously wealthy, and I use my fortune to try and seduce either Yuuka, the pervert maid or Hong, in that order.
If none of them will take me I'll settle for Alice I guess.

I immediately set to work making straw dolls. I then leave them in the rivers as offerings to Hina until i eventually meet her and over time befriend her. I then go lie around in the grasslands and hang around near the base of the Youkai Mountain just watching her spin and do nothing else. I don’t have any concern for what else is happening in Gensokyo or what incidents are happening I just sit around all day watching Hina spin round. Rumours spread around the village about the strange outsider who likes watching the misfortune god spin around but no-one can ever figure out what my name objective or purpose is there. Eventually Marisa goes to investigate if it could be considered an incident but I just ignore her completely and only pay any attention to Hina spinning round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round.

No one ever figures out what I meant by this.

Eh. It still has use. You're not fighting an army and matchlocks are very simple componentwise with a sear spring. If you're keeping a gun with you at all times, then you'll find use out of doglocks, snaplocks, true flintlocks etc. as keeping a lit match or tinder for hours at a time isn't that feasible.
