Hey i have a question for anyone that's up to date with Zero believers goddess/
Is it true that the in harem yuri was removed from the light novel version?

>> No.45780726

The Dendro manga concluded Franklin's Game, and it ends with a "To Be Continued."
Unless I'm misinterpreting that, it comes as a surprise, since I heard its performance wasn't amazing and assumed it would be axed. Not sure if they'll succeed, but I guess they wanna stretch it out to the Quartierlatin arc, with all its revelations and Altimia spotlight.

Is what I would say but anyone that isn't the main girl ends up completely irrelevant in the monoshit ending in the WN, so it's not like it matters.

That would be a fair assumption if it weren't for the fact that if it ended here, the final volume would only have 2 chapters.
There's bound to be at least 2 or 3 more, but whether they're the start of the next arc or just teasers for the LN remains to be seen. Though, if it's the latter, this chapter would be a weird place to put a "To Be Continued."

Given the relative failures of both the anime and manga adaptations and only the moderate success of crow record, wouldn't surprise me if the author realized his fanbase is primarily people that only care about the source material because his writing is one of those series that end up a magnet for the ultra autistic.

those don't get published (at least not in the real of light novels) because they fail as engaging stories

you are not grasping the point. stories have tropes and characters have archetypes, this much is true. obviously there is a formula to popularity and writers will use this to their advantage. the point here is im bored of the formula and want a new taste. i dont need some avant guard shit, im capable of putting up with some amount of cliche-ness from the popular "formula". in the end some amount of this is inevitable in any novel that has the goal of being successful.

>>45791499
the reason is because I enjoy japanese fiction the most. even if there are tropes that are annoying at this moment in time, japanese writers still are known to be making stories that literally nobody else would. the reason why it annoys me is because I like it. I wouldn't be even reading them in the first place to complain about them otherwise. It's like having a son that's very intelligent that sometimes does very questionable things. you feel a bit annoyed but you still love your son. obviously the industry is not monolithic though, and there are people that make odd and interesting things, that is how the era's change after all. i just want some of that kind of stuff.

It's perfectly possible to hate some/most tropes and still enjoy LNs. Just keep an open mind and try not to judge series by tags or the title, often you will meet series that you can thoroughly enjoy despite having tropes that you dislike.
Also learn to drop at the first volume when you can tell that reading the series further will only annoy you. Most of the times it's easy to tell, ALWAYS drop when the MC or the main heroine gets to your nerves, continuing reading just because you liked some side character or loser heroine will only torture you.

that's generosity these retards don't deserve, especially not when they are getting weaponized by broader anti-japan agendas and they actively see no issue with it or actively play along
let me tell you what happens, because i have seen it way too often:

first an idiot gets into "the animes" because of peer pressure, usually through some normalfag pandering slop like chainsaw man or whatever is the meme FOTM seasonal shit
second they try watching more anime and reading manga, because they recognize kino despite the 5 or so layers of separation between the original and multiple butcherings (the adaptation itself, shitty dubs/translations, etc) but quickly get burnt out due to their anti-japan brainwashing going off like crazy, which leads them to never shut the fuck up about variations of "it would be better if it was less cringey/fanservicey/pervert" because they are desperate to larp as "mature" with the media they mindlessly consume with their normalfag acquaintances
and last, after like 2 series tops they just start watching video essays about anime (and just anime, not manga) from eceleb grifters, which comes in two flavors, the usual ones wanking old good new bad which usually means the eternal evangelion, FMA and S;G wank, or the ones just shitting on everything with extremely rare exceptions that made them feel like a grown up boy (like frieren this season), whatever they consume they will still get their head filled with propaganda disguised as memes, end up complaining "isekai/LNs in general bad" for the rest of eternity, and find out 2-3 series they will call masterpieces but never actually read the source material of (and that's assuming they don't get memed into reading gookshit)

so what's the end result of that? it's very simple, usually it doesn't matter here because they just shit up pisscords and /a/, but on the rare occasion you see the weaponized plague spreaders reach up here asking for recs with that "everything is shit amirite?" attitude expecting people to agree, which everywhere else it would be the secret code word for people to start masturbating their own le mature hidden gems like evangelion/FMA/S;G
then when pressed further (even if it's just to try see what they like) which never happens to them normally, they will constantly avoid mentioning what they have actually read, because that list is empty or with just the one series they are currently reading if you are lucky, which mind you is a natural reaction when actually saying what they have seen will instantly ruin their image of pretending they are experts on the medium and instead out them as the morons they are for just going off the memes

from there a few things can happen with varying chances
a) and the most likely, they just fuck off after looking like clowns from doubling/tripling down on their "wtf i expected ironic garbage but i actually have to use my brain!?!" mentality and go complain about "elitists" in their hugbox
b) and the second most likely, if they got memed into reading gook/chinkshit they will have a melty and start spamming how that stuff is so much better than what japan puts out, then fuck off
c) unlikely but still happens, they will triple, quadruple, quintuple and sixtuple double down and beyond, but still quickly burn out within a day because this general is slow as fuck compared to the entirety of say, /a/ or /v/, where they can continue melting down for the rest of time

In no particular order and just some of what I've read of late
>Reign of the Seven Spellblades
Since you like Turkeyhandle this series has a ton of magus autism very reminiscent of Type Moon but wearing a Hogwarts-themed halloween mask. In terms of atmosphere I believe it strikes the perfect balance to have just enough darkness to it to give it a rich flavor of sombreness while being tempered by enough optimism to never become truly edgy.

>Instant Death Cheat
An author somehow convinced someone to publish his 14-volume long shitpost in which dozens of people, non-people, and everything in between who could all have been the heroes, villains, side characters, love interests, comedy reliefs, doomed mentors, exposition vehicles, secret final bosses, etc etc of their own stories all get instakeked by an escaped SCP. You could see it as a meditation on death as the inevitable great equalizer, or you could see it as a joke that went too far but they kept going to see what happens.

>Min-Maxing My TRPG Build in Another World
A dude goes to a fantasy world in which he's the only one with a stat sheet. People either love this one for its autistic infodumps about the author's homebrew setting, the author's evident fetish for predatory domineering demihuman girls and the gimmick that every volume ends with an IF branch chapter like the Steins;Gate routes, or they hate it for the same. Has a /tg/ meme as its subtitle somehow.

>D-Genesis
A rather slow series about dungeons appearing in the real world, mostly told as slice of life and focusing on character interactions between the MC and his friends/harem members exploring dungeons against the backdrop of the societal, economic and political impact of dungeons appearing.

>The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind
Someone wrote a fanfic of a Grand-tier TM magus going to isekai and styling on everybody and just filed off the serial numbers

>Infinite Dendrogram
A very earnest action series with matchups that revolve more around conceptual advantage than just powerlevel. It starts off fairly focused on the main character and his social circle but over time the scope expands to encompass a greater world of inter-faction conflicts and a full ensemble of characters any of whom could conceivably be the protagonist of their own story.

>The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival
I don't actually think this one is very well written from a technical perspective, but THE ASHEN PRINCESS OF SLAUGHTER going full Big Boss and being chased around like John Wick makes me giggle like a retard. Has an okay-ish (at least 2010s Baka-Tsuki level) fan translation up to volume 6 as J-Novel Club only just got started on it recently.

Danmachi's weakest volume so far, though it's less about the volume itself and more about Lili being the worst character ever, even when taking into account Aiz "The Doormat" Wallenstein, Sanjouno "Virgin Prostitute" Haruhime, Lefiya "Cuntblocked Yuritard" Viridis, and Syr "Restored Town Bike" Flova. Why yes, I'm rooting for Ryuu to win the Bellbowl, how did you know?

Jokes aside, Volume 3 is the highlight of the series, and I implore you to only ditch Danmachi once you've read the climax. The middle volumes (4-8) are decent-good, but most of the fans will agree that Danmachi starts to really shine during/after the Xenos arc.

Told ya. If there's one thing Danmachi did right, it'll always be the deathmatches. I actually dreamt of fighting the Minotaur multiple times in my sleep after reading vol 3, especially the FAIABOLTO part. Though granted, back then I hadn't read as much as I have now.
On that note, if you prefer grittier fights with higher stakes, you should give the spin-offs a try. Base Danmachi/Familia Myth got no real deaths before Haruhime, while SO, Astraea, etc. will make you wish Omori could tone down his edginess a bit when writing. Not to say the main story is shit because it has no deaths, but again, it really only shines during/after Xenos.
p.s. Vol 3 is so good that Omori decides to reenact it several times more and everyone happily ate them, even if it's literally just a retelling by another character.

It's not really slow, but the definition of an ultra-niche within a niche, it's also one of those autism rides you can only truly appreciate after being deep enough into a genre's rabbit hole.
Love it or hate it basically.
Which just keeps proving me whoever is handing out publishing offers on HJ has an uncannily good eye for cult following LNs.
Maybe "Power fantasy/self inserting bad" and so on, but it's a valid genre like any other, just this one paradoxically having some required reading first, similarly to how I can't really recommend to aru, mahouka, matty, nanatsu or dendro to anyone just getting started, yes they are readable but you can only really "get" them after being familiar with their particular flavors of autism.

You do need a personality with a tendency to go full god complex to have it as one of your top 10 favorites, not socio/psychopath stuff, not a big ego or liking to just fuck shit up either, but that particular tinge of thirst for domination and control as well as the willingness to indulge in it.
This is the solid foundation the author uses for the story, something that carefully massages that one instinct that may be fundamental to most living beings, not the sweet taste of victory, but the intoxicating taste of utter domination.

Which is more interesting than it sounds, you may imagine I'm talking about simple bullying or winning effortlessly, oh boy no, it's far more than that.

Victories against overwhelming odds are the good side of the coin, something earned through hard work and effort, usually against someone with talent but not putting in the effort, the pleasure of winning against impossible odds through smart analysis of even the smallest weaknesses and slowly chipping at that until cracks start to tear down the goliath, even if this means extensive preparations, because after all "The wise win before the fight while the ignorant fight to win", you know what I mean yeah?

This is the evil side of the coin, beating someone so utterly that their chances were not astronomically minuscule, but ZERO, outsmarting them politically to the point every single move is a losing move, in a fight making them face their perfect counter and someone who will never lower their guard or fuck up their job, cutting off every single escape route, preventing any means of calling for help, hiding the fact they were defeated, and on an on, to the point no matter how much plot armor they pull, how much they try to outwit you, how much they struggle and break their limits, their chances of victory remain a dead ZERO, and not only that, but knowing even if they pull the impossible and beat your original plan, you still have dozens of backup cards up your sleeve anyway (pun intended) and each and every one of them can easily bulldoze their efforts.

It's not just being given power in a silver platter, but getting lucky, on top of effort, on top of focusing on technique over raw power, on top of autistic amounts of layered planning, on top of self control to never lower your guard. Total and absolute domination with zero chances of defeat through monumental amounts of luck, talent and effort all at once.

And yes, this also extends to the characters summoned by the MC (obviously particularly the female ones) which show deranged amounts of zealous devotion to the point it may actually be off-putting for people not far deep into this flavor of rabbit hole, because again, it plays straight into that domination god complex that's borderline required to enjoy the story as intended.

Basically you either think it's one of the best things ever written, or you think it's pretty bland and boring or even complete shit.
I rarely see stuff this extreme and I hate it's not a more common thing.

>rewrites under the guise of "localization
I actually disagree with this. I'm all for accuracy, but I'd also rather them translate the intention if the direct meaning will make no sense to the target audience. How weeb it should get depends on the setting and overall writing.

Like I was playing Mamedo no Bakeru and it's chalk full of random, often Japan-exclusive, trivia. There's literally 5 collectible trivia per stage. It's no wonder it has no localization since most the fun facts would make no sense to any other culture, and entire game and plot is based around heavy Japanese culture background knowledge.

I don't know Korean but read some translate gookshit from time to time. Frankly, I don't give a shit about the -noona, -nim whatever shit and just wish they'd omit it. It doesn't only add nothing to the experience, it removes from it.

In japanese getting changed to:
>The curtains were fucking blue.
Because either they were conditioned to expect slop and are upset they aren't getting it, don't even see the difference and don't care, actively promote the dumbing down in the name of "localization" and because "it reads better that way/it's less pretentious", or actively have an agenda to vandalize Japanese media.
At the end of the day it's propaganda efforts, plain and simple, if it's from either willing or naive unaware pawns there's no difference in the end result.
This is why people focus on the more egregious examples because you will never have enough people upset with the alternative, even if you cleanly and concisely point out pretty much the entire translation is wrong and it would be easier to point out what isn't mistranslated.

Now that's more accurate to what I usually see in its native language.

Jokes aside, the standard LN writing really does just keep degrading as time passes. I just found it ironic your example comes off as reversed to me, with the sample Japanese text being what I'd put as the ideal translation target, and the example English translation being usually what I find as the base text.

I swear LN writing has massively degraded over the past several years. Makes sense translations would degrade along with it since the standard starts low.

From what I see, it has the same problem as Index, they're both too monotonous and repetitive. Even though the setting allows them to easily add in some insane bullshit right at the drop of a hat, said bullshit will only matter at that particular volume and will never intersect with any other bullshit from the earlier or later volumes or else. It's a real damn shame, we have Rakia, Melen, Telskyura, etc. to play with, but shit will always start and end with Orario. It's rather concerning since the final quest/battle with the Black Dragon is supposed to happen outside of the dungeon, but we still know jackshit about the geopolitical conditions in other countries (in mainline Danmachi, that is). Heck, there are still a lot of districts in Orario that haven't been explored at all.

Oh boy this is a fun rabbit hole that can easily give you decades worth of daydreaming.
Sadly it does get split into "Actual relationships" and "The cute girls are fucking schizos", and I think you can only really get into the latter with a more active imagination.

I think I get into this some much easier since I can't really self-insert into the stories I read and love the situations as an observer and just enjoy concepts,
I read a Chinese Novel where mc got paid to make these girls fall in love with him for clients, the clients fucking shit the bed with the relationships and the girls figure out it was him and the story is him trying to dodge these landmines with the absolutely unhinged girls.
The first girl literally murders the MC 3-5 times until he admits he was the one she was talking too.Mc has a return from death ability and it is him navigating through these situations.
And the girls slowly start retaining memories from previous loops
I blame evil lord for my enjoyment of mental illness at least for supporting cast.
Mentally ill MCs and hit or miss.

Seconding the two recs already made then, 異世界迷宮の最深部を目指そう and 嘆きの亡霊は引退したい mostly in that order.
最凶の支援職【話術士】 has only one girl fit the bill and she doesn't get that much screentime, which sucks, but in my opinion still worth a read.
No game no life has some of the girls go down that road (and Jibril starts there) so that's fun.
勇者召喚に巻き込まれたけど also has aspects of this, but it's far more tame in a way, it's less fun schizo shenanigans and more bittersweet drama, so your mileage may vary.
And of course the big one: Sevens, by the same author as evil lord but when he was taking less meds, which fair warning will likely never get finished, so read at your own discretion.

>> No.45869325

>>45869126
The first is more serious which highlights the fun, the latter is more lighthearted(-ish) but gets accentuated by the author's lack of meds moments.
My vote is on evil lord first.

in my opinion it was a resounding meh, but this is coming off from someone who already got burnt by both oreimo and eromanga and was expecting nothing as a result
honestly just ecchi in general or even literal porn but nothing else just feels bland these days
it was more exciting in the 00s and even the early 10s because it had that WOW CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS IN A STORY factor, but it's not special nowadays when people can literally proompt infinite porn
probably why LNs also started to shift from just raw porn or softcore porn to focusing on the emotional core of relationships, even if it's mostly sex too, shit like magical explorer when it's more about the bonds between people, and by people i mean a harem of girls and the guy that owns them even when he SHOULD be fucking them akshually

>this actually looks pretty good
The anime might make it good but honestly, the novel is pretty dogshit.

Worldbuilding is a joke but that's nothing new. It has a rare case of multiple countries on equal standing in an isekai, but makes almost no use of it.
Author had a stat growth theme going on early on but later on completely throws it out the window. Not that stats ever mattered since the MC never uses his despite having insane stats, and even people with no stats seem to easily overpower those with stats.

The writing itself is extremely pretentious. By which I mean the author loves drawing out single sentences across multiple pages. The anime will cut that part out, obviously, so it should portray a lot better. Oh, and the entire cast is autistic, like literally every single one. It's like being on /pol/.
It also uses the harem tag despite the elf still being the only confirmed heroine in what seems to feel the end stretch of the series.

I actually really like all of this author's works; I've followed him ever since the original Tamer's Mythology and he always has amazing settings.

That said, while I do like it a lot, I like Nageki the least of his works. But I do understand why he focuses on it, with it being easily the most commercially successful of all his works, perhaps even the only one that isn't axed. Can't blame the guy for wanting to milk his only healthy cow.

The manga got axed. Pretty sure the LN is still ongoing, but it's really low priority with the publisher, being like their only light novel or something.

I wish the author got rewarded better, but while he's a good writer his choice of publishers suck ass.
