It's quite significant if there really are 3 stars on the keyboard as mentioned in the comments. Lyrica's keyboard has "L.P." or "LP" written in that location in PCB. The dress also has 3 layers but that's certainly reading too much into it.
If it's an early design Lyrica, where are early design Merlin and Lunasa? Though ZUN might have changed his mind about the Prismriver outfit before sketching Merlin and Lunasa.
It doesn't seem likely to be an early design PoFV Lyrica since her face looks so radically different from PCB Lyrica.
I think it could well be Layla, after all.
I still have some doubts. If you're ZUN, why write "LP" on the keyboard knowing that this does not disambiguate between Layla and Lyrica? Or did he have "Rayla Prismriver" in mind? Or did Lyrica take Layla's keyboard?

Well, the 3 stars could have been an early idea to represent all sisters. Remember that in AoCF Lyrica's keyboard has "Prismriver" written on it, representing the sisters as a whole, so this might be something similar.
There truly are a lot of threes in the design, but there are some strange grassy elements too. I guess the fact that her hat has a star, as opposed to the moon, shooting star and sun?eight-pointed star of the known sisters could be different. Although the difference between a shooting star and a star in way bigger in astronomical terms than in symbological meaning.

How much do you like the theme of these beloved Three Poltergeist Sisters, 幽霊楽団 ～ Phantom Ensemble? Actually, I can't believe it hasn't been discussed yet. Can you imagine it, a Prismrivers thread with no discussion of their theme?!
Anyway, I love it and there are so many good arranges too. As an aside, don't you feel like the structure and instruments of Yuyuko's theme in PCB kind of mirror those of Phantom Ensemble, almost to the point where you could imagine the Prismrivers playing it? It's also interesting how the bass in the non-Merlin sections of their theme is the same as in Eastern Wind, the first Touhou shoot'em up stage theme.

I prefer its PoFV rendition, but both are pretty good. The lower pitch of PoFV's rendition does convey a more introspective approach that suits Lyrica (since she's the only one with a Story Mode, although the others share the theme) going on an adventure, while PCB is more about the Prismrivers doing their thing: Putting on a musical show.

Most Prismriver threads begin with a discussion of their theme and then quickly die off, so I'm somewhat glad this one was different.
It's definitely a great theme, and when combined with the also amazing stage theme it makes for one of the best stages ever. Don't really like it as much in PoFV, I wish each sister got an individual theme.
Didn't know about the Eastern Wind connection, very interesting.
