Holy fuck, the trailer alone shook me to my core. I miss the Iwai aesthetics so much. Watching this trailer took me back to Swallowtail Butterfly. Iwai's genius lies in how he masterfully presents songstresses and divas in his works, and he knows who to pick as the heroines. Aina feels as special as Chara and Cocco, carries that distinctive aura and attitude. BAD FILM by the same filmmaker is kinda like the prototype to Love Exposure, has similar autobiographical elements, too. Also, like the other anon said, watch Sono's other works. Love Exposure is an example of why film is a powerhouse of an artform. A very rewarding 4 hours and you can never predict where it's going. The guerilla filmmaking has been Sono's trademark since the 80s, you can see it in 'Decisive Match! Boys Dorm vs Girls Dorm', albeit not as crazy as his TOKYO GAGAGA days in BAD FILM and around that period of time. I enjoyed it. VIVANT is like watching a movie thanks to its large scale story and incredible cast. Not only is the content rich compared to other dramas, but the visuals and the music are also like nothing else on tv.
