According to the JAST interview that someone posted a few months ago, the reason they release these types of games is because they are profitable for them. The ratio of the amount of work required to churn them out to the amount of sales they garner is apparently ideal enough to make them want to keep releasing them.

Also, you should probably visit JAST forums at least once just to see what their community is like. You will see that many of their devotees do indeed like these types of games. And they care about the opinions of these devotees because they are the ones who actually buy their games, unlike Anon who pirates most of the time.
