Whatever happened to Touhou animations? A decade ago, they were plentiful, now they’re almost all gone now. Did all the animators left for something new?

Flipnote died as well as Flash.

Flash died. Now all talented people either animate MMDs, developing games or make short animations for Twitter.
One of the few cool Touhou animators that I remember beyond the flash era is 1R0HASU. Check them out.

I destroyed animation as a concept, sorry.

Adobe killing flash because of HTML5 and muh security (quid of js and all of ther unsecure webjunk?), but forgot that Macromedia originally created it for computer animation and not as a website framework.

They moved to MMDs, 3D (minus-T) and other styles in youtube in masse, but there are few ones who does animation like 1R0HASU. I honestly prefer quality over quantity in this case, just look:

I've found some decent sprite animators on youtube but they might be too shitposty for some people on here.
Also a gook who makes normal animations.

If you're an autistic archiver like me, you'd know that the chinese make quite a lot of animations. Bilibili is full of them. Koreans have also made more animations now than ever from what I see.
MMDs are also still going incredibly strong. Rule 9 is still in full effect, you'll find MMDs of the most obscure shit.
Because of NND dying, it's a bit harder to find new Japanese animations. Twitter still has animators about, however.

Really the biggest blow is Kinema Kan, and Sound Holic not making animations anymore.

This, it's actually insane how many korean animators there are now. Dunno much about the chinese side but I know I subscribe to a channel that reuploads basically everything big from bilibili in terms of 2hu stuff, though I forget the name...
If anything I think the biggest blow really just has to do with a lot of nips aging out, going to other fandoms, and the era of .swf's being dead.

Touhou isn't the king of weird obscure weebshit anymore. I also blame the death of flash but it really just lies in my first point.

This argument has consistently been retarded because no matter where you look, people have always been making things for both passion and fun.

What, don't tell me you think the 90's and the 2000's were when the entirety of human history went "hmm, today I will create purely for creations sake"?

>for both passion and fun.
For both passion and profit, but also fun too I suppose. Point is the idea that any culture can't live side by side with both pleasure and profit at the same time is an idea worth discarding and has been worth discarding since before the concept of bloodlines even existed.

Touhou animation is still thriving. Obviously not golden age levels of active, but still far from dead.
