Come on man, you have saved enough neetbux to buy a second GPU for dual GPU passthrough so you can have a VM in this economy with these GPU prices assuming you have a motherboard that has separate PCI lanes in the first place so that when you isolate said second GPU you aren't isolating all your USB ports, audio and such with it.

I have i3 (tiling window manager) with each workspace occupying 1-2 applications per screen, so it would just be a picture of my terminal, browser window, etc.
I used to have a script that would pull videos at random from a playlist of 4k Japanese railfan cabviews and play it through mpv and set it as the background. It actually works quite seamlessly because the "desktop background" in X11 is literally just another window.

You'll see from my rules, that I actually have a lot of programs float, especially terminals. Other than that you can use your mouse or cursor to move to whatever program you want. I'd have to say the default bspwm experience isn't that comfy and you'll have to fiddle around a bit to get a comfy setup.

You kinda need cursors for modern programs, but you can use the keyboard to move the window itself, resize the window, etc. and then the cursor is used for whatever happens inside of the window. Once you get used to it, it's a really comfy situation, but there's a learning curve and having to commit keyboard shortcuts to muscle memory.

Pic related, I detest those who rice their Arch install or whatever for hours on end. Besides distros with specific use cases like Tails and whatnot there is no real reason to use any other than Linux Mint, Gentoo, Debian and perhaps OpenSUSE.

I have been using linux mint for a year or two, at first there is some getting used to, but after a while you will get the hang of it. In practice this means installing it, using it for, like, two months and when you have gotten the hang of everything you make a new, clean install.
I switched from the ubuntu to the debian based linux mint version some month or two ago and have yet to even need to use the command line. Everything I need is available as an appimage, flatpak or a deb package.

that's just the output of the gnu
date[\code] program with the japanese locale set in the environment. I use dwm, which places the name of the "root" window on the right side of the status bar. On dwm, the "root" window is dwm itself, so you can run
xsetroot -name "$(date)"[\code], and only the output of "date" will appear there.
So first, in my .profile, which runs once on login, I set the locale environment variables to Japanese:
export LANG=ja_JP.utf8 LC_ALL=ja_JP.utf8
For this to work you need to have Japanese locales generated; instructions in Archwiki. This sets everything to be displayed as Japanese, for full immersion. Almost all programs, like shotcut, falkon, fdisk, pacman, coreutils, etc., will display their text and dates in Japanese now, which is fine since at least in the terminal and emacs I can highlight Japanese words and get their english definition in kiten, the window on the bottom right. On other programs like shotcut, in which the text is embedded in the GUI widgets and therefore not selectable, I temporarily set the locale back to english whenever I dont have time to look up kanji I haven't learned yet:
LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 shotcut
. Sometimes the
LANG[\code] variable is the one the program listens to. In some programs this can be done in settings without having to restart it.
Next in my .xinitrc i run xsetroot and date in an infinite loop in the background before
exec dwm
.
```
while true; do
xsetroot -name "$(acpi -b) $(date +'%a %B%d %R')"
sleep 1m
done &
```
Ignore the acpi invocation: it prints my battery charging status. The format string to the date command intructs it to print the day of the week as it's kanji, followed by date and time in 24-hour format, which is what Japan uses. (While writing this, I updated it to dispaly the month in Japanese:
木 4月27 12:53
) The sleep call makes it wait 1 minute between updates; you can set it to seconds:
sleep 30
.
If you don't want to change EVERYTHING to Japanese, just generate the locale and run the date command as
LC_ALL=ja_JP.utf8 date
.

TL;DR just use a desktop environment and change it's date settings

You are still using the platform on which groomers, faggots, animal fuckers, people with unthinkable fetishes, pds and who knows what else thrive, which encourages people typing rapidly in a stream-of-consciousness barrage of half-written sentences sent as separate messages with horrible grammar. You may seclude yourself to the people you talk to but there is no saying whether they will do the same. By being on it you are more or less indirectly encouraging all of what I described above and more. If you are aware of all of this and still choose to use it then at least keep it to yourself.

That's just modern social media/zoomer text in general. It doesn't really matter, it's just your personal preference.
As a zoomster myself, I used to really hate it and saw it as a marker of stupidity, but it's really about showing relaxed conversation and honesty, and in that way it's quite nice, actually.

Yeah, 4chan sucks as well but at least the posts are anonymous, you do not have to install spyware and create an account to use it. It also works with threads, meaning that you can put thought into what you write, meaning that the quality of posts and replies can be better. Emphasis on can. On Discord longer messages get buried six feet under instantly and never seen again.

You don't use communication tool and platforms to enter random communities and then complain that you meet people you don't like. You use shit to communicate with people you care for and enter communities you are interested with.
Also nice memes about muh "spyware" - you use use a web browser, an OS, and handful of websites and software that already collects your information. Also 4chan jannies have your IP. Your data is already in hands of companies having interest in them. Get used to it.

Hmm? The main reason I used to avoid switching is because crossplay with my homies was a struggle, now it's because I draw with paintNET (which is, of course, entirely based on NET framework stuff) and I'm really particular about it.
