I still haven't beaten any Touhou game without using continues.

DAMN

It took me about a month to beat EoSD on Normal with no continues. Practice mode and watching replays helped a lot.

My first was PCB and it took me several weeks to 1cc.

I'm still working on PCB. The first time I beat it, I used 3 continues. I'm just going to keep practicing getting as far as I can without using a continue.

IN, 2 years on EASY MODO. I wept when I beat Eirin. I can beat PoFV on easy with all the characters and EoSD on easy. PCB and MoF are too damn hard. StB is banned in my house.

I don't even want to remember, well over a month. Playing until I could beat every level up to 5 in practice mode without dying. It must have been PCB, because I remember thinking EoSD was still fuckhard.

been playing PCB on and off for about a month now, i've yet to get past the prismrivers.

I played EoSD for months on normal and never made any headway, then I played PCB and somehow I felt I was doing much better in only days. EoSD just must be harder or something.

Took about 15 attemps at IN before I was able to 1cc easy, another 20 to 1cc normal and another 40 to 1cc hard. Still working on lunatic. No stage or spell card practice, only game start.

PCB - Easy
MoF - Easy
EoSD - Normal
IN - Normal
PoFV - Hard

All in one continue, within a few weeks after picking them up. Though I've played a lot of similar shooters before. Somehow, I just can't get past normal on PCB or MoF though, while they're arguably both easier than EoSD.

I've only played EoSD. I can get to Sakura on normal mode without using a continue, but by then I'll be on my last life.

So it goes. Maybe I should play IN and build up my confidence a bit before coming back to EoSD.

I think I did Easy IN on my third or forth try, but that’s after however long playing PCB to no real avail, and a long time playing CAVE shooters.

Easy IN easy is significantly easier than everything else, so if you’re getting frustrated I’d recommend that. It’s also helpful to never continue, you get a better drive to complete it and feel for your progression.
