A slave literally CANT be used in combat. If you choose to make someone a slave generally they'll either join as a non-combatant or an uncooperative, which means you have to train them to a fall state before even being usuable. The only upside is if they're non-combatant you can choose what class they have once they are capable of fighting, but in most cases its better to just take them as combatants from the start anyway. Though, what version are you playing? I havent had the choice for P3 girl for a few cycles now and she's defaulting to uncooperative, im not sure if that's a glitch or something they removed recently

At the start Mari is better, because she gets a skill list full of healing and support spells. She doesn't get any offensive spells, but you can just skillcard her with Bufu, Aqua, Garu, whatever you fancy. Dolly without good equipment and Harmonizer program will have pitiful damage output in the early game, good only for exploiting weaknesses for co-op. I actually didn't played with P3 protagonists in the party, so I am not sure about their powerlevels in the long run.
If you are fast enough to rake up a lot of money and get the second girl (Mari or Dolly) not broken, they will get alternate skill sets which are actually very powerful. Dolly can get Trisagion or Agibarion this way, I don't remember which.

If you ally with Law or Chaos, it makes recruiting people of the opposite alignment harder (But not impossible, unlike some actual smt games) and on top of that the ease of getting someone to like you is dependant on it. If you both share alignments, training and such will be a lot more effective and they'll contribute more during a Demon Co-op (Which btw despite the name humans join it too), whereas if it's merely adjacent (Only one of them is neutral) or opposing your alignment they might not even join a co-op at all. If you have untrained fall it always affects the amount of loyalty needed for them to fall.
Outside that, lots of ending require specific alignments so for the most part just go with what you genuinely want to follow until you start grinding out endings.

Hate marks are more of a threshold for bad gems, it has to be a really bad action for it to happen right away, it's probably best you refrain from doing what you are doing until you resolve the issue since the hostility will build up and give you one in the end anyways. As for why she's gaining hostility could be many things, one could be she has low relationship with you or doesn't have yearning/love. Having high favourability/reliability and the fall status actually reduce bad gems gain. Another could be the pain, she's actually child-sized you know and penetration hurts for her more than average, specially if you don't lube up. Another could be nasty personality traits. I can't remember what Remilia has, but there are annoying personalities that just make everything difficult for you no matter what.

I've been trying a take on that counter attack Mirai-Key of Norn build anon mentioned a bit ago and I figured I'd give my thoughts on it(on maniax difficulty) and how I might tweak what I have so far.

Death counter and the like only working on physical element skills means it's extremely niche, only really working better vs enemies that use cut off while dodge works on pretty much everything. A slight investment of luck you are looking at around 40~ crit rate against most things and with her hit counts you can reasonably expect a coop attack most turns. I didnt even realize dodge counter was a regular skill, the only similar skill I found off the top of my head is Air Trick, which I believe is just a more powerful version exclusive to the phantom yamato. And yeah Im pretty sure Abandonment stopping counters is a straight up lie, there's a fight in the extra events with guaranteed counters if you do too much damage and I thought the solution was that skill, but no it didnt do shit. It's pretty much just an accuracy boost. Healing Wave also doesnt seem like it's worth the slot, and you're kinda right but it does have a niche use, in that if you want to grind loyalty with a macro it ensures you wont die during it from untreated chip damage. I wanna say it also helps when dungeon exploring, but on Maniax that's not really applicable since its likely not healing enough to stop you from using mediarama after fights anyway so I might have to drop it myself. The auto-kajas are kinda bad though, slots are too tight for them and you should have a dedicated buff user instead if you wanted to make use of buffs even if the difficulty wasnt that high already, but accel isnt too bad if you built her for crits. Its a little inconsistent, but I've noticed it mostly procs when you get a crit, and I believe it can proc multiple times from one attack if it crit multiple times, so combine it with Double Trace and Advice/Bright and it could be fun

Sorting through a milion things is annoying, it's supposed to be better this time, right? 6 slots make it much, much worse. Imagine having to sort through 15 pages, you have no chance of remembering where's the aphrodisiac and where's the potion.
Simply having a long list of items lets you remember roughly what's where. You could also just expand that inventory to actually show a good chunk of your backpack, like I dunno, 20 slots? Icons are okay, but exactly - small ones. Not something so huge you can only fit 6 of em on your screen. And please, make it so it's automatically sorted by default, like potions - crafting - trash for sale.

The only rational qualm against it is that inputs are monitored and that it isn't open-source.

Anyone got any tips for playing an avatar tuner and making it not shit? I've been giving it a shot and it feels like it's just not very good in general. Between the fixed resistances of which pretty much every option has significant holes, the extremely limited skill slots(especially considering you probably want at least one hunt skill and 1-2 wait skills before considering others), and generally slow growth speed of learning skills it doesn't feel worthwhile. Like I could just pretend it's a ghetto summoner and spam bullets, but that defeats the entire point of the class in my book and I'd rather just play summoner in that case. Am I missing something? Because it feels like it sacrifices everything in the name of not needing resources to swap skills once it learns them and with only 8 slots it can't even make very good use of them.

That must be it. It's definitely not that I respect artistry and the ability to choose a specific direction for a character and tie that into every aspect of their writing. That I think writing is more than just picking up patterns in language and putting them together in a mostly coherent manner. That I enjoy it when authors have a specific goal in mind for how a character develops through gameplay. That I like characters being given unique gimmicks that leverage the fact that this is a game and not just plain text. That the ability to go off the beaten track and come up with something that's really unusual for a character but flows naturally for the character someone's writing is always great.
