Ive been wanting to learn for a while now but kanji is making me feel wary of taking the plunge. Is kanji as much of a roadblock as it seems or does it get easier after learning hiragana?

Im especially interested in being able to read information only available in japanese about japanese history and my ultimate goal would be to be able to read japanese novels.

the fact you're interested in reading already means that you'll pick up kanji quickly (relatively speaking. it's still a long process)
it's only a roadblock if you make it one. if you decide to study kanji in isolation before actually reading, then yeah it's a massive one.
if you accept that you'll constantly encounter unknown kanji and just take them as they come, then no it's not that big of a deal as long as you're doing it in an environment where lookups are fast.

Expose yourself to more material, take risks, see if the words you're studying are reproducible or recognizable when spoken or under duress, and make the weird connections only an outsider can make. None of the books I had to use were bad, per se, they just weren't appropriate for the goals of the course. Some of the books we were... "gently recommended to use" were so basic or presented material in a way so counter to what the professor was trying to do that we would have been better off without them. For example, we were required to use Genki I for the first class. That's nothing new, right? Lots of colleges use it, it's set up to present information in a specific way, and it has its serious flaws but we just kinda suck it up and deal with it. So why did the professor also recommend a book on kanji that went well beyond the scope of the course requirements and just confused half the students, and a book on conversational expressions that confused the other half? "To prepare for your long journey into Japanese, of course!" Meanwhile half the class was there just to meet a language requirement for their degree. If the material had been better tuned for the target audience it at least would have been effective, even if for me personally it would have been a repetitive bore.

this shit is mindbreaking me hard.
I am trying to translate this manga as practice and the chapters I did waere doable up untill now, but the last panel of this page is mindbreaking me hard.

page 20
>narration:”Meanwhile at the crown tundra.’
>narration:”Marnie, Hop and Bede finally arrived at this time at dyna tree hill.”

>Narration:”The night before Peony who was in a dreamy state.”
>Narration:”Produced too many village goods. thing like Sweats with a round neck he was forced to trifle with by the mayor for many days and who knows how many times..”

the first panel is relatively simple, but what the fuck are they trying to say in the last panel?
I tried to write it out in english to try to make sense off what is written, but I still can't make any sense of it whatsoever.

I want to start practicing my output skills because they're severely lagging behind my comprehension skills, but the usual methods don't appeal to me. I feel too bad and awkward about "forcefully" turning natives into practice partners, especially when they're not asking for it in the first place. It must be annoying for them. I'd want to actually be able to express myself more comfortably and hold conversations with substance in broken but understandable Japanese before doing that. On the other hand, finding English speaking dekinais to do Genki I-tier conversation excercises with also sounds like ass, because my understanding of the language will be better than theirs. There also wouldn't be any useful feedback because of that.

Its not, its makes much sense how to pronounce those specially if you're not a EOP
In latin languages ち = Ti つ = Tu (if you put a little spit in tongue)
only ちゃ = Sha/Tya != た = Ta
しょっと = Shotto

After getting used to this made my life I whole lot easier going forward

Is moeway's 30 days japanese a realistic course?
How many hours am I supposed to set aside, each day, to see the whole day through properly? I always end up spending 1 to 2 hours on Dolly's videos alone taking notes and internalizing them, and plus anki leave me too tired for the immersion part of the day.

Are you sure the original font includes those glyphs? They are rather rarely used so the font is probably missing them and in that case the text rendering engine will usually try to arbitrarily pick up some replacement font which has those glyphs. Of course in that case there will be some mismatch between glyphs.

Two questions:

Is there a mirror of itazuraneko that isn't broken?

The stroke order that site had me learning I've found out isn't actually how most people learn the stroke orders. It's the gothic font.

Is there a site that teaches text book style stroke orders in the style of itazuraneko?
