Prematurely killing threads. We used to get new threads when the old one was on page 10, maybe page 9 if someone was angsty about having their picture in the OP.
For the past 3 months the average new thread has been made on page 7 to force the holo stuff in the OP, meaning threads are effectively dead as soon as they hit 311 posts. A new thread is made and the OP samefags the same tired replies for the first 50 posts to fake engagement, meanwhile the previous thread stays up for another 12+ hours.
The end result is /djt/ on /jp/ is dead. 60+% of the posts in any thread come from one person.

Wrong, the previous thread was made on page 10. The one that tries to make early threads to force troll garbage on the op, is Unko, with his threads being made on page 7, 6, and 5 this time. You can see him spamming his disgusting pigs up there, too.

Alternate theory, nobody likes unko or his spam and that's why anything that stinks of him is always empty, including the aptly named "trash" threads.

Average. Plenty of holo threads have been made on page 7 without someone else making a thread first.
There have also been occassions where a holo thread will be made many hours after a new thread has already been made and samefag his hard to be get ahead in the post count. So it's not even an alternate OP/threadwar at that point.

True, but the underlying concept is the same. I don't care what the OP looks like for the same reason I don't care that DJT is dead. DJT itself has no intrinsic value. It provides nothing other than quick entertainment. That has always been the case. I can get entertainment anywhere, so why would I care if a small source of entertainment disappears?

I stopped grinding a core 2000 deck to focus on immersion + sentence mining like many say you should but then I stopped immersing, now I feel my Japanese plateauing.

Even if a core 2000 deck isn't the most natural or ideal way to learn vocab, at least I was consistent, now I am not consistent about learning Japanese at all.

Should I grind core 2k again? I was sentence mining from immersion before but I didn't look forward to it and it felt like a drag.

I don't follow. You're still doing the same amount of new cards, mining or core, right? So why do you think your progress is somehow less consistent?
The words you learn will become less common as your vocab grows, and the feeling of progress will decrease because you're not seeing words you learn constantly everywhere anymore. This is normal and will happen even if you just do premade core decks forever.

>> No.42852582

Just read, "mining" is a waste of time. Words have context, which is infinitely more important that the "definition" of the word, which is why most words don't have 1 definition.

both these doing and being words have tenses nai -> nakatta etc.
There is really no word minai, it's just mi next to nai.
Compare that to english
run; running; ran. there is no word 'ning' and 'r'.
見 (and the vast majority of kanji) carries (at least some) meaning by itself.

Guys I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly this "ほど" does after the 染み渡る.
For context, it's comes from the song "Shout and Bites" (Versailles)

>絡み付いた薔薇の棘が黒い死神を突き刺して笑う
Karami tsuita bara no toge ga Kuroi shinigami wo tsuki sashite warau
>絡み付いた薔薇の毒が染み渡るほど Ah…眠れないね
Karami tsuita bara no doku ga shimi wataru hodo Ah...nemurenai ne

I understand the typical use for "hodo", like describing the extent of something in the verse below:
淫らな程綺麗ね
midarana hodokirei ne

But I don't get what it does after the "shimiwataru" in the first example, could you guys help me?

the problem is I stopped doing new cards completely. Sentence mining discouraged me from immersing at all, so I just kinda stopped doing any Japanese study. I stopped immersing AND grinding core so I literally didn't progress for like 6 months. I'm trying to get back on the horse now in a way that won't cause me to burn out and quit. (Surprisingly I actually enjoy grinding core decks as long as reviews don't pile up).

I suppose I prefer new vocab to be spoonfed to me rather than me hunting i+1 sentences manually.

unless you were doing thinsg manually and therefore adding a big annoyance time sink every time you have to add a card

mining should be near-effortless, that's the point of all these tools like ankiconnect and yomichan. Personally I don't even do sentence mining, just direct single-word cards, so I don't have to stop and think about whether this is the only word I don't know in the sentence.

I agree. Tatsumoto's script automatically opens some files and folders, but you can't really automatically plumb selected text in Japanese. You may want to plumb it to qolibri, or to another app. So you have to choose using dmenu.

At that point just copy the fucking text and type the url, let it autocomplete, then copy the text in the obvious place.
Plumbing would be highlighting it, pressing your plumb key and then having that script run. That's plan 9's philosophy, not having each script handle their own input. It's the exact problem plan 9 solved ~50 years ago. Which is why Tatsucuckold is a retarded scriptkiddy.

The most basic mistake people make when trying to read Japanese is to think that the particles are "marking" the previous word.
This is completely backwards. The previous word is modifying the particle.
Japanese isn't a backwards language, yes the verb comes at the end so you do have to wait for the complete sentence to understand, but you shouldn't be reading any way other than sequentially. If you have to, pick a point and start reread from there, do not confuse yourself by reading backwards.
Imagine spending months fooling yourself into thinking you are learning english by reading sentences like
"quick the brown fox jumped the over lazy dog"

The best reading material is stuff that's ever so slightly outside your current knowledge so that you're learning through context as well as through research and applied study. So "just read more" starts with correctly identifying reading material that's suitable for your purposes and at the right level of mastery for you to get something out of it. Then you just...read. You look things up where absolutely necessary, you research grammar or kanji where required, but if you choice well then you'll have to do only a minimal amount of legwork and can enjoy the process for the most part.

I've read the entire Itazuraneko/learnjapanese.moe/animecards beginner guides and I ended up starting with the Tango N5 deck instead of the Core 2.3k as it is recommended in the https://learnjapanese.moe/resources/ guide.

However I'm kinda skeptical if this deck is giving a decent definition for the beginner vocabulary.
To be more specific, I'm on my third day of this Tango N5 deck and I was already convinced that こちらこそ meant simply "me too / same here" but after looking up other places I realized that it's way deeper than something like "I love icecream --> me too"

The wikitionary definition of こちらこそ as "I'm the one that should really be saying that." gives me way better understanding than "me too/same here".
Now I know it can be used in reply to an apology for example.

Is Tango N5 really a better recommended before I go into the Core 2.3k?
I don't want to invest time in a deck with scuffed sentence definitions.

I have thousands of vocabulary that I made via yomichan when I didn't have enough dictionaries loaded into it and now I'd like to add more dictionary definitions.

>long term archiving of relevant files
Your retarded, the "archive" is the troff or tex file they used to make the book
And it's "relevant" insofar as you don't have internet.
Good luck trying to read compressed Japanese, idiot.

it's also in lots of words about arguing and discussion
if I had to guess id say the 'attack' meaning came after that, directly from the idea of verbally attacking

(pulled out of my ass)

Is it possible to do it from the beginning? They always say that the problem is getting sentences i+1, but why not make 5 or 6 cards from the same sentence and that's it?

the point of a sentence card is that you have the rest of a sentence for context to prod your memory
if you don't know any of the other words it's pointless, may as well just have a lone word card

I mean obviously making 5 or 6 lone word cards from that sentence, anyway at first you know absolutely nothing, but at least that sentence would be in a context that you know

>unless you were doing things manually and adding a big annoyance time sink every time you have to add a card

Exactly, my sentence mining work flow involved noticing an i+1 sentence, highlighting the sentence from subtitles, opening an anki new card window, pasting the sentence into the expression field, taking a screenshot of what I was watching, pasting the screenshot over the expression, and then copying and pasting the new word + it's definition into the meaning field (sometimes in English and sometimes in Japanese depending on if I could understand the JP to JP dictionary definition).

My minimum new card goal was 10 per day so I would do this at least 10 times though some times more if I wanted to get ahead on new cards. I'm sure this method was inefficient but all things considered I got pretty fast at doing it and could make a new card in under a minute.

I got tired of pausing what I was watching to make a new card every couple of minutes.

Thanks for the encouragement anon, I'll try to worry less and simply engage with the language more often.

sticking to i+1 means you're limited in what you desire to read
for me? i'm i+100 but i'm enjoying myself more reading rape manga than I would reading SOL
